I Love My Little Stockpile
Well, phish phooey! DH just called to say he was pulled over for a speeding ticket to a tune of $154. He wasn't paying attention, he deserves it. I just wish the lesson wasn't so pricey :(
So there goes my shopping money from DH for the next month :( I am very thankful to have the stockpile that I have! We won't have to worry about where money for any groceries will come from as there is plenty in the house - even if some weird meal choices may crop up down the road. I am waiting on several survey checks, so here's hoping lots of surveys come my way to add to them as well as some rebates so I can still take advantage of great deals! I have a $10 check that arrived today from MySurvey as well as a $13 one that arrived Saturday from Viewpoint so I can still enjoy a few deals this week ;) (please, please Albertsons, have another great deal like the Kraft one you just had!)

Preserve Recycled Toothbrushes

This is such a cool idea! Preserve toothbrushes are made from recycled plastic, and are available in adult and kids sizes. When it's time to change it, simply drop it into the prepaid envelope that comes with the toothbrush, and they'll recycle it again for you! How cool is that?
These can be found at most Target stores, and I've found a printable coupon for you! Save $1 on two toothbrushes as well as some other money savings coupons available on their site.
Do you like seeing photos on my blog, or do you feel it makes it cluttered? Give me your verdict!

What Is Your Grocery Shopping Indulgence?
An Island Life posted a blog today - What is Your Grocery Shopping Indulgence?
It's fun to read some of the answers. Mine is cheese - there's always cheese in our house and it definitely is my favorite snack. You'll see I add it to a lot of our recipes too - cheese just makes our world a better place in this house! ;)
However, unlike some of the posts I am always careful that I stockpile any indulgence on sale or with a coupon. I like knowing I am indulging yet saving money at the same time - after all, how could I say no to a great deal on Dove ice cream bars at $2 for instance? :)
(BTW, An Island Life always has lots of fun giveaways I've noticed. If you like entering contests, you may want to add her site to your favorites and check back to see what she's giving away!)

A Recycled Idea
I have a bunch of ton oversize plastic totes that my 16 oz organic greens come in. I hate them as we can't actually recycle them here -they won't take them, so I keep them and use them as storage. (You can decorate them with plastic covering film if desired)
I don't have a dishwashing size bucket or bin available at the moment, so I decided to use one of these plastic totes instead - I filled it with some ice water, and I am currently soaking my feet in it! I feel cooler, and my ankles that were swelling seem to be going down (phew!)
Do you have any other ideas for these? We usually end up with 2-3 of these a month (cringe) So far I use them to stack items in I'd like waterproof but want to store in our shed normally.
(Oh, and the water I am using in it right now will be recycled and used for watering my plants tonight)

I Broke the Coupon Scanner at Albertons!
Actually, I made it freeze because I worked it so hard! I'm not sure the clerk was too thrilled with me, but DH thought it was funny! ;) And I actually did two separate transactions, and it still thought it was too many coupons!
transaction #1
*DiGiornio singles pizza $2.50 minus $1 internet printable
*Ritz crackers x7 (yes, 7 boxes!) $2.50 minus $1 MC on each box (so x7)
*Planters peanuts $2.50 minus $3 printable when you buy 3 Kraft items (it gave me overage which I wasn't expecting, YMMV)
Minus $5 when you buy $20 worth of Kraft products
Total after coupons $5.50 ($31.51 in store and MC coupons!)
transaction #2
*Campbells soup $1.59 (I didn't catch that it rang up wrong until I got home, should have been $1)
*Boca Chicken patties $2.50 minus $1 MC
*Planters peanuts $2.50 minus $3 Kraft coupon (like above)
*Kraft Mac N Cheese (x3) $1.00
*Muir Glen organic diced tomatoes $1.50 minus $1 printable coupon (found on coupons.com)
*Muir Glen organic tomato paste $1 minus $1 printable coupon (found on coupons.com)
*Campbells soup $1 minus .25 home mailer coupon (it came out ages ago, no exp date)
*Albertson's french bread $1.69 minus FREE survey coupon from register receipt
Total after coupons $6.84
I could have made transaction #2 sweeter by buying several more Kraft items to hit $20, but I didn't want to mess with adding up the boxes of mac n cheese to hit the $20 total. And for the 59 cents I was overcharged on the soup, I'll just say it evens out with the overage from the Kraft peanuts coupons that I didn't expect.

Tips On Keeping Cool
It's really HOT over here, so our electricity seems to be doing double-time! We actually had to make a run to WalMart today to purchase an extra fan for our hallway since it's going to be so hot this week.
Here's some tips to help you stay cooler:
*Close your shades. Keeping the blinds and curtains closed during the peak summer hours (10am to 4pm) can help keep it several degrees cooler in the house. If you still crave the sun in your house, at least try to follow the sun around - keep the shades closed where the sun is coming in the most. If possible, place window tinting film on windows where a lot of sunlight comes in - you can purchase a roll of this at places like Fred Meyer, Ace Hardware for under $20, and there are varying shades from black, to frosted to almost clear. It is easy to install and easy to remove. We've used Gila brand on our windows, and I'm very pleased with the way they look. You can even purchase some with designs!
*Keep your AC on the lowest temp you can stand, and it will help your electric bill a bit. You don't really need it at 66, you can get away with using it at 68 or 70 (if not 72)
*Use ceiling fans to circulate the air, even if you have AC. This will help your AC not have to work as hard!
*Don't use AC at all. Use several oscillating fans and ceiling fans to circulate the air through your house. Several fans use much less energy than an AC will.
*Keep yourself, kids, and any pets properly hydrated. Drink plenty of ice water, and make sure your pets have a cool place and ice water to drink as well.
*A trick to cool your body down several degrees: run ice cold water over your wrists (or dunk your hands into a bowl of cold water, making sure your wrists are covered as well up past the veins).
*Try not to use any appliances that give off heat - this includes TVs and computers, as well as kitchen appliances like your stove and toaster ovens. This is a good time to use the microwave if you need something warm, or try to stick to cooler treats like fruit and salads with sandwiches for meals. Also try to keep lights off if not needed - they can raise your house several degrees!
*If using an AC, make sure you check the filter at least once a month. Some need to be cleaned, others replaced, depending on the brand. Keeping the filter clean will help it get cooler, as well as use less electricity.
*Keep a path clear around the fans or AC if it's a window unit. You don't want anything blocking the air from moving around to maximize the benefits.
*If it's just too hot inside, maybe it's time for a little escape. Visit your local library or a store (leave your wallet at home unless you had already planned to shop!) and enjoy the cooler air there. (Just remember if you have pets and it's too hot for you, it's too hot for Fido and Fluffy - leave those fans on for them and plenty of water)

A Great Freebie Deal Day!
I spent a good three hours last night searching for deals, organizing my coupons, and printing online coupons. It was hard work, but it paid off well!
First, I got my free Flat Earth Chips I won last night from the Subway Get Smart instant win game - I'm starting to like this one!
Then, we hit a Target - now I actually did two different Targets today because I did not want to overwhelm them with my coupons and get the clerk confused and possibly miss scanning one of them.
Target transaction #1:
*Pampers wipes in a travel case (12 count) only $0.25! Run if you use these!
*Johnson's Buddies soap $0.94 minus $1 Johnson's SC
*Iams Healthy Naturals cat food 3.5lb bag $7.69 minus $5 home mailer coupon
*Purina One 3.5lb bag cat food $5.74 minus $2 printable coupon
*Sheba can cat food $0.99 minus $0.50 Target printable coupon
*Huggies baby wipes 64 count $2.39 minus $1 home mailer coupon
*Starkist White Tuna pouches $1 x3 minus $1 blinkie coupon
*Clean & Clear trial size wash $0.97 minus $2 printable coupon (overage!)
*Market Pantry oregano spice $0.84 (no coupon, but a good price for us)
*Pounce cat treats $0.94 minus $1 blinkie coupon (found at Safeway)
*Zone protein bars $0.97 minus $0.55 MC (to keep DH going on our marathon shopping! lol)
*Tylenol 8 count (found in travel section) $0.97 minus $1 printable coupon
*Nice red chip platter marked down to $0.48! Perfect to serve munchies on for DH
Total after all coupons: $12.96 (and I finished off my $50 Target GC)
We then hit the mall. We used our coupons for free Auntie Anne's pretzels - $3.05 each! (You can print two - hit the back button) They let us choose whichever kind we wanted - so you don't just have to use it on the original if you don't want.
I went into Wet Seal to get the free Chilosa by Prima J Tank. If you're unfamiliar with the store, it is junior's sizing. The tank is available in small, medium, and large. I didn't even have to pay tax on mine! It's a good ribbed tank to layer with.
Next, we went to Old Navy to take advantage of the $1 flip flops deal for DH. I also found boxers marked down to $1.49 and $1.99, so if this is something your DH wears you may want to check yours out! I also scored a nice black dress for $5.99 for myself, and they had green infant cardigans marked down to $0.97! A nice gift or a great deal if you have a newborn. I saw sizes 3/6m and 6/12m at the Old Navy in Tacoma.
Next, I went to Bath & Body Works to use the Free Lip Product or Anti Bacterial gel (up to $7.50!) with any purchase. They had soaps and travel size lotions and body wash for $1, as well as many other body washes and lotions at 75% off.
Next, we hit Jack in the Box outside the mall for a free Smoothie that we had received a coupon for. (We tried the Strawberry banana - I'm so-so on it. At $2.99, I think I'd rather spend a little extra and get one inside the mall)
Alright, here's my second Target deals:
Target transaction #2:
*Johnson's Buddies bar soap $0.94 minus $1 SC
*Johnson's baby wash $2.09 minus $1 internet printable (not a great deal, but it was about to expire and I didn't want to waste it)
*Clean & Clear trial size wash $0.97 minus $2 internet printable (overage!)
*Ziploc 25 count (by the registers) x4 minus $1 off 2 (x2) SC
*Archer Farms small bag of chips (by the registers) $0.89 minus $1 printable Target coupon (unlimited print amount on these, available on Target website, expire July 27th I think)
*Shout 4pk (available in travel section) $0.97 minus $1 internet coupon
*Slimfast Optima 6pk bars $3.79 minus $3 home mailer coupon
*Pampers jumbo $9.99 minus $2 home mailer coupon
*Pampers giant wipes $7.99 minus $5 Target coupon if you buy wipes & diapers (unlimited print! you can buy the smaller package of wipes at $5.99 to make this deal cheaper)
Total after coupons $15.46 (and I used my gift cards from the Hallmark panel, so total out of pocket was $5.96!)
Whew! I am super tired now! :) (and I have my coupons ready for another run tomorrow!)

Shopping Deals Today
DH and I took advantage of a coupon that arrived in our ValPak coupon mailer to go out to lunch at a local Chinese restaurant (saved 50% off one meal!) It was a nice treat (I didn't have to cook!) We always prefer to indulge in lunch since it's cheaper than going out to dinner.
At Wal*Mart, I spotted L'Oreal Paris Studio Line Melting Gel marked down to $1.50. If you have the $1 off any L'Oreal styling product from the Sunday paper a few weeks back, your cost would be $.50 plus tax!
Dollar Tree was restocking as I visited, but it looks like they will no longer be carrying the pasta selection that they once did. (Yes, this breaks my heart) I picked up another 2lb package of rice for my stockpile, a 3 pair package of Max Grey men's athletic socks for DH (these are really nice for the price!), and I found some really CUTE frog princess wall stickers for the baby's room - for $1, this is an incredible deal! You may want to check your local store to see if any designs fit your style if you are in the mood for cheap redecorating. I also spotted 3 pair sets of Keds kids socks in white - it's the perfect time to stock up for back to school or camps! I saw up to size 6-8.5. They also had girls knee high ribbed socks in white, 2 pairs for $1. If your daughter wears a uniform to school these are a great deal!
I also visited another dollar store we have in the area, The Dollar Store. I wasn't hugely impressed, but this one did have some fresh fruits and vegetables. I did pick up several packages of quick make noodles that were priced at 2/$1 for lazy meals when DH is coming home later than usual. I also found Cote D'Or Belgian dark chocolate bricks for $1! (heaven!)
Save-A-Lot partially redeemed themselves as I landed on a nice stack of marked down meats - my freezer is now full! I got trays of beef and pork - some as low as 70 cents! (DH the carnivore is in heaven!)If you are close by, it might be worth checking out the meat aisle from time to time. Their regular meat prices is close to Fred Meyer's, but they mark them down lower.
I didn't end up taking advantage of the WalGreens coupon though I should have. Maybe next time. I did try to get the Crest mouthwash that was FAR at Rite Aid, but as usual they were out of stock - this location is becoming a waste of time as it doesn't matter when we visit during the week, they rarely have any of the FAR items. I'll try another location tomorrow when we visit family.
And I did break down and purchased a new ink cartridge for our printer. It was $31 with the tax (ouch!) but I know I save that easily with the coupons I can print out.

Major Store Coupon Policies
This site has a list of several major stores policies for accepting coupons. It includes Target, WalMart, Walgreens, and Albertsons. If there's a store you visit often on the list, you may want to cut and paste the information into a word document and print it, and carry it with you in your purse or coupon binder.
If you have a local store you are interested in, you may want to email their customer service through their website and ask about their coupon policy. You can then print it out and carry it with you just in case of any issues if you have several coupons, or if you have had trouble in the past with redeeming internet coupons.

A Recycled Idea : Fire Starters
As everyone knows, if you don't clean your dryer lint trap, you are risking one big fire hazard. Lint makes a great fire starter if you have a fireplace, wood stove, or even if you like to camp a lot.
I save all my lint packed in a cardboard egg carton (don't use styrofoam!). You can also use toliet paper or paper towel tubes, but I've found the egg cartons are easily for me - they don't roll off the shelf or the top of the dryer! You can cut them in two or three (or more!) as you desire. I keep mine in one, and then cut it down before using in the winter.
This is great for the environment as the link isn't packed into a landfill, and it also saves me a little bit of money, and our fires start right up!

Saving For Emergencies
With my DH having to take a class for 7 weeks, it completely changed his work schedule. He ended up having to loose several hours a day as well as cutting back one day to be able to take the class. We had a tiny bit of a savings, albeit not much as we had drained it to help pay for our house back in December.
Needless to say, 2 months after the start of the class, it's gone, and I am realizing how hard it is to live on smaller paychecks. We definitely could not do it long term, we have too much debt - something we are working on. Trying to decide which bill has priority is NOT a choice I ever want to be faced with.
If it wasn't for my beginning to stockpile, I think we'd be in a lot of trouble right now. I have a good month's worth of food and supplies in the house, so if I needed to crunch down and not shop, I could easily do it. Sure, towards the end of the month, we might have some weird dinner combinations - but we could do it.
On top of stockpiling food, one can't forget to stockpile other household items, such as toilet paper (priority! LOL) toothpaste, shampoo, even aluminum foil. Goo Goo Buy Buy has a GREAT article on stockpiling that everyone should read. Stockpiling is almost like a savings account!
I've calculated that our food and necessities bill is around 25% of what it would be if I didn't stockpile by taking advantage of sales and coupons (yikes!) so I will continue to work on this. Now that I have the freezer, I'd like to have a 2-3 month supply of food hanging around here. Between the cost of gas continuing to rise (it's holding on at $4.39 here at the moment)and the rising price of food we are about to see (due to increased gas prices, but also because of the flooding in the Midwest!), and the fact that you just never know with the job market, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Quick Shopping Trip Today
I started off by cashing in some of the survey and rebate checks I have received over the last few weeks, for $47.18 (not bad!) Even the bank clerk was impressed at how all of them added up.
I then hit Subway to pick up my free bag of Flat Earth chips I won off the Subway Get Smart Instant Win Game Luckily I was able to get it to print since I am practically out of ink. When I was in my Subway (Sedgewick), they had cards to sign up for a Birthday Club. They say if you join they'll give you a gift on your birthday! (YMMV, check with your local Subway to see if they participate or not)
Our local Albertson's (Sedgewick) is having their Grand Re-Opening today. Some of the prices I've got listed were for today only at this store. I did two seperate transactions because I have had problems in the past with the extra $ coming off, plus I like to see exactly how well I do on certain deals and keep that receipt separate. (And I'm glad I did it this way, because it didn't take off the $5 and I had to ask the cashier to take it off)
Albertson's #1
DiGiorno Pizza - $2.50 - $1 home mail coupon
DiGiorno Pizza - $2.50 - .75 blinkie coupon
DiGiorno Pizza - $2.50 - .75 blinkie coupon
Ritz Crackers - $2.50 - $1 Kraft coupon (home party, bought off eBay) X4
Jello Fruit Passions Cups - $2.50 - .75 coupon
Minus $5 off Kraft when you purchase $20
Total: $7.75 (total savings $22.87!)
Albertson's #2
Albertson's gallon milk - $2.39
Diet Pepsi 12pk - 1.99 (x2)
Charmin Toilet Paper (x2)- 6pk double roll 2/$5 - $1.00 home mailer coupon
Albertson's 24pk bottled water - $2.99
Grapes .88/lb - $1.46
Total: $16.33 (total savings $23.45!)
At the bottom of one of my receipts is a coupon for a free loaf of French bread with a survey, so that made me really happy! However, I was kind of sad to see that they weren't doing any free gifts or contests with their celebration. Even if it was just a chance at a $50 gift card or something, it would have been nice. The store looks really nice inside (I just hope this doesn't bring higher prices due to renovating costs)

What Your Fridge Says About You
I thought this was a fun little quiz to do:
So what does yours say? Does it seem right?
What Your Fridge Says About You |
![]() You aren't greedy, but you don't really deprive yourself either. You strike a good balance with the stuff you buy. You are a very thrifty person. You don't like to waste money... or food. You are a very adventurous person. You love to try new things, and you get bored very easily. You are not very responsible, and you don't pretend to be. Life's too short to do what you're supposed to do. You are likely married, possibly with kids. |

I Confess:
Today I am going to be one lazy housewife and take the afternoon off. Lunch was made, dishes done, DH is off to work, and dinner is already partially made - and of course, no one is ignored. So I will be enjoying myself wandering the blogging world!
Recipe: Southwest Stuffed Tortilla Wraps
Last night I had spagetti on our dinner menu, but decided to change it after a craving. Here's what I made instead:
16 oz corn (frozen or canned)
12 oz diced tomatoes
1 can (or equivilant) kidney beans
1/2 pound ground beef
taco seasoning
8-10 burrito size tortillas
shredded cheese as desired
Cook ground beef, drain, stir in taco seasoning.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees while continuing the recipe.
Mix corn, tomatoes, and beans with ground beef in a large mixing bowl.

Spoon mixture as desired into tortillas. Sprinkle small amount of shredded cheese on top of mixture, close with toothpicks. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.

Top with dollop of sour cream if desired before serving.

A Garden Update
Well, things haven't gotten any better. I am sad to say it looks like only one tomato plant, two pole beans, and an absolutely beautiful catnip (go figure!) will be it this year. There are two other tomato plants just barely hanging on, so I am not going to hold my breath.
I am sad, but I am considering it a learning lesson. First, keep my plants inside much longer - granted, we have had an extremely cool June, but still.
Second, the top shelf is safest for my plants to be until placed outside.
Third, it doesn't matter if I purchase plants or try to grow them from seed, the end result will be the same if growing conditions are lousy.
On the bright side I will be able to reuse all my planters that I bought this year, so that's not a waste. I will try sprouting a little earlier next year and see where that goes. At least by container gardening, I can keep plants inside and take them in and out if necessary.
Here's hoping my tomato plant is bountiful!

Are You 18-24 and Like To Read Romances?
Since I participate in this panel, and do receive books from them from time to time, I wanted to share this with anyone who reads my blog who might be in this age range:
Dear We Hear You member,
Do you know any 18-24 year olds that read romance? We want to hear from them! Please pass this email on to those that would like to sign up with our panel.
They do not have to be Harlequin readers, just as long as they enjoy reading romance.
We will send them 3 books to read, which are free for them to keep. All they will need to do is fill out a short online survey, telling us what they thought about each book they read.
If you have any female friends or relatives that would be interested and are between the ages of 18-24 and read romance, please pass this email on to them. They will need to click on the link below in order to sign up.

Monday's Mail Call
I haven't had too much in the mail over the last week, so I was happy for a few things that came in today even if there were no freebies:
*large envelope filled with coupons for our new Albertsons (including a $25 GC coupon for transfering prescriptions!)
*May's rebate check from Rite Aid purchases
*Two $5 gift cards to Target for surveys from Hallmark Insights (I'm not sure how to send anyone to sign up with them, or I'd post the link)
*a HUGE survey for Home Testing Institute that had a $2 bill inside (this is going to take awhile, and while $2 is better than nothing, I'm not sure it's worth it)
*$5 check from Survey Savvy

Empty Shelves at Your Dollar Tree?
On my last visit to Dollar Tree, the shelves were incredibly sparse in the high traffic areas (i.e., food, trash bags/plastic, aluminum wrap & trash bags/bath & body). It's likely you've noticed the same at your local $ Tree (or any other $ store - Dollar General, 99 cents only, Family Dollar, etc)
More and more folks seem to be jumping on the $ stores bandwagon - I think that's great! Why waste money? I know there are a few people grumbling about sharing the bargains, but try to look at it this way: the more people shopping the stores, the better the chain's buying power becomes. We may see some new great things walking in the door over the next few months as distributors want to liquidate their products and know Dollar Tree is hot!
Talk to your local store's staff and find out when deliveries are being made. Most stores get a shipment in once or twice a month. You'll want to visit the following day or two to get the best selection (don't forget to give them time to unpack the boxes!).

Efficiency
DH has the day off today, and one of the things we are working on is the efficiency of everything around here.
He currently is working on the car, making sure he isn't carrying around anything unnecessary, the tires are the proper pressure, and all liquids and oils are the level they should be. This will help us make sure we are getting the most of the gas we are paying for.
We are also working on making sure things are just as efficient inside. We will be moving furniture around to make sure we are maximizing space. I've already been working on cleaning out closets, and donating some of DH's clothing that he doesn't need anymore. We were gifted with several large floor to ceiling sturdy shelves a few weeks back, so instead of cramming our fold able clothing into dresser drawers, we are now neatly stacking items on the shelves. Clothes are now not being pulled out of the drawers just to see what we have. It also allows me to rotate out DH's clothes so he is not just wearing out the top 3 or 4 items. I had purchased several nice cloth baskets at a discount at Big Lots last year; these I used to stack our socks in so they don't fall off the shelves.
Getting rid of the dressers opened our bedroom up so it doesn't feel so cluttered anymore. (It's almost like a new room!)
I've also been working a little on our kitchen. All our vitamins were sitting on the counter; I've now got them sitting pretty in a little Dollar Tree bin (small cubes 2/$1) It will make it easier for me to move them around if I need extra counter space. My kitchen cabinets still need work, but that I'm saving for another day.
We'll also be moving around the furniture in the living room on DH's next days off. Everything is still pretty much where it was placed when we first moved in here six months ago, so it definitely needs some work. The room is rather small and the way the bookshelves are arranged right now it only makes it look smaller.
One of the great things of organizing everything and making things fit more efficiently means it also allows me to take an inventory of what we already have and what we could use. I didn't realize that DH had several new packages of undershirts hidden, so I pulled them out and got rid of some of his more worn ones.
Also, by moving things around, we are able to clean in corners and underneath items. This will help with allergies.
By the way, if you have an air conditioner, you should be making sure you are changing the filter on a regular basis. If you are an allergy sufferer, this should help as well. Don't forget to clean the coils on your fridge as well - something I am about to go see if it needs done.

Target Shopping Fun!
Oh, how I love Target. It's probably a good thing I do not live any closer to Target because then I really would be in trouble!
I found lots of summer markdowns at my local Target, YMMV. I did splurge and buy the monkey outdoor Welcome door mat for $6.28, only marked down from just under $10 - not a great deal, but it was super cute and we actually don't have a mat at the door.
I also found cute stacking bins, 3 to a pack, for $4.18 - they came in bright pink and aqua (I picked aqua). I'll be using mine in my cabinents to keep seasoning packets, muffin mixes, and tuna pouches.
Also making it into my cart today was a cute monkey face kitchen scrubber for 68 cents (I couldn't resist, and my kitchen could use a bit of summery cheer), a bright pink beach towel at $4.18, and a fun Dinosaur trash can marked down half off to $9.99 - again, not a neccessary purchase, but I felt like having a little retail therapy since I had the gift card.
I also noticed that some of their food prices had gone up. Time to start stockpiling if you haven't already!

Love Scrapbooking? Wal-Mart Has Markdowns!
I noticed tons of scrapbooking supplies marked down at my local Wal*Mart today - everything from stickers, to sets, to scrapbooks and papers. Stickers marked at 97 cents were down to 75 cents - not a huge discount, but if you scrapbook, it might be a good opportunity to stock up on some things while the price is a bit lower. It looks like they must be making room for the new stuff!
(YMMV on whether your local Wal-Mart is doing the same, but if you are already close by you may want to stop by!)

My Thoughts On the Haier Deep Freezer
Now that I've had it running 48 hours, I wanted to give my initial review.
Cost $154.88 at Wal-Mart (your WM price may vary)
Size 5.0 Cubic Feet, up to 150 pounds of meat
Estimated Energy Use 240 or $22 extra a year
It is just about the right size for a family of 3, maximum 4, depending on how you stockpile. It comes with an inner tray (great for breastmilk if you are breastfeeding!) or the small 1 pound meat rolls fit perfectly in them. It is a little louder than I thought it would be when it turns on, but it's in the kitchen.
If you are storing it in the garage, then this definitely is not an issue for you at all.
If you are planning to be searching for what you want every day (ie, you buy a lot of frozen entrees) then I am going to say an upright freezer is what you want - it will be a lot easier to read what variety it is if it is stacked in an upright vs in a deep freezer. However, if you are just basically using it to keep your extra stockpile, this is perfect for you.
It doesn't seem to run very often either, and I currently have it stocked about 2/3rds of the way full. I'm sure if it was completely full, it would hardly come on at all. (which should help bring down the electric use a little)
So far so good! I am using the other freezer to keep the frozen stuff I need on hand for the next few days worth of meals. As soon as I get swinging on my menu planning, I plan to have the weeks worth of items needed for the menu in the fridge freezer in order to keep opening the deep freezer at a minimum (again, this will help save on electricity)
Update located on this post about energy costs, etc.

Some Deals This Week
Rite Aid:
*Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Conditioner: $2.99 (Coupons from Sunday paper can make this a profit/cover tax? I didn't have one, so I'm not sure)
*Organix Vanilla Conditioner $5.49 (some have hang tags for another rebate, you can double rebate if you feel comfortable OR get the shampoo free as well!)
*Diaper Mate $2.49
*Arm & Hammer Ultra Max deodorant - .99 cents sale minus .50 cents coupon floating around from select A&H baking soda boxes awhile back
*Nexcare tattoo bandages (Cars & Disney Princesses) .99 minus $1 Sunday paper coupon!
After all is said and done, my total will be .49 cents plus the tax on the free items for all of them above! (I still had a bit of overage towards the tax from last weeks rebates that I used a coupon on one item so the bite isn't as bad)
Toys R Us:
I actually went in pricing plastic swimming pools, but our local TRU had the CUTEST Imaginarium Horse Back Riding play outfit for only $4.98 (ages 3 and up) If you have a little girl or are looking for the gift closet, this is a great deal! I had to put one away for Princess!
Petco:
Petco has cute little charms for collars marked down to 70 cents. I saw one for cats that said Mouse Patrol, and another one that was a little bow white a rhinestone that says Cupcake. Your local Petco may have different ones at that price point too. Great stocking stuffer for the pet lover! (or for spoiling your pets like I just did!)
Gymboree:
I spotted a few t-shirts for baby boys on the clearance rack marked at $1.99. YMMV depending on your store, but if you are already at the mall, it may be worth a trip inside to check if there's anything in your size range that low. They are also advertsing up to 60% off on select lines - great for summer play clothes!
Target:
*18 qt clear latch box (more on this in a few) on sale $3.99
*Hefty One Zip freezer bags $1.87 minus .20 cent peelie (I needed this)
*Purina Cheew-Ez Rolls (3 medium) $2.99 minus $1.50 Sunday paper coupon
*Purina T-Bonz Filet Mignon Treats $2.79 minus $1.50 Sunday paper coupon
*Cascade Dishwasher Rinse $3.19 minus FREE product coupon
*Pounce cat treats $0.94 minus $1.00 blinkie coupon (found at Albertsons)
*Johnson's buddies soap $0.94 minus $1 Sunday paper coupon
*2 litre Diet Pepsi $1 (DH was thirsty and I was not paying for a tiny 20 oz bottle!)
My total came to $10.84 after all those coupons - not bad! (Yes, we are slowly getting stocked on cat treats! lol)
I purchased the latch box for our first aid supplies. With all the free bandages we have been acquiring of late, the box I originally had, we have long since outgrown. I specifically chose a clear one so I could see what was in the box easily. I also chose the latch box because it was very easy to pull off the shelf. In case of emergency, especially if we have to evacuate (in WA, we are in a possible earthquake zone, and we also live in a rural area that is heavily covered by trees - if there is a fire nearby we will have to leave) I wanted something that was easy to grab and carry.

Samples To The Rescue!
Yesterday I thought my allergies were going super wonky, so I just took an extra dose of my Claritin before bed. By the time I woke up this morning however, a killer cold had made it's way into my system (I am still fighting bronchitis and a secondary infection, so this isn't too great) I could have sworn I still had a brand new package of Cold & Flu medication in my stockpile, but apparently I was wrong. Luckily in my samples, I had several from Tylenol Cold from a few months back - phew! I hate sending my DH off by himself to the store if I can help it - he's still in training on price comparision! ;) - and as of this writing, our cost of gas is at $4.42, so I hate to add in an extra trip for just one thing.
I am also very thankful for stockpiling Scotties tissues on that Albertson's deal last week as I am already on my second box!
(Lesson learned: once a month I need to go through our medicine box and see what we have on top of what is about to expire and keep a checklist. At least we don't lack band-aids at the moment!)

Free Auntie Anne's Pretzel!
For those of you who are Memolink members, when you click to do the surveys, the Couponing one sends you to Coupons.com. On the second page (it may vary for you) there are coupons for Auntie Anne's pretzels! The Free Pretzel one is no strings attached, and you can print two coupons. They do print a half page advertising message, so you may want to watch your printer and shut it off after the coupon itself is done printing. I looked at MyPoints (since you get 10 points for redeeming their coupons) but I did not see it available there. If anyone else sees it available at another coupon printing site, please let me know!
This is a great cheap date, or something that will keep your kids happy while shopping for deals at the mall!

Recipe: Creamy Chicken Noodle Bake
This is a fairly quick and easy recipe my DH adores:
1 pound box/bag of Whole Grain pasta
1 pound shredded chicken
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 1/2 cup of milk
12-16 oz bag of frozen peas
Parmesan cheese (as wanted to sprinkle)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Boil pasta to desired consistency. Whisk soup and milk in separate bowl, added shredded chicken. Mix pasta in when finished, pour into casserole dish. Sprinkled with desired amount of Parmesan cheese, then bake at 350 for 15 minutes. (cover with aluminum foil)
What I love about this dish is that it's so easy to substitute! You can use any kind of pasta, even regular pasta if you don't have any whole grain in your cupboards. Last night I used penne, but I've even used macaroni. You can also use canned chicken as a quick fix (I try to have some cooked ahead of time that I can just defrost for this recipe, but I've used canned before and my DH can't tell the difference.) You can also use Cream of Celery or Cream of Mushroom soup, and canned peas (or green beans if that's what you have on hand) And of course, you can always use less chicken if desired to bring the cost down.
I can usually have this ready for my DH in around a half an hour which is great for when I am not sure exactly what time he will be home from work. Depending on your family size, you should have leftovers. Usually with rolls/assorted bread products, we get 4-5 servings out of this easily. You can add more vegetables if desired to make it healthier and even more filling to stretch out the servings - add a little more milk in this case. (Though last night DH was so hungry, there were none! So much for freezing leftovers for later this week!)

Haier Deep Freezer Is My New Toy!
We went to Wal-Mart today to purchase the deep freezer. It's a Haier, 5 cubic feet, and before tax it was $154.88. I am sure there are better deals to be found on Craigslist by purchasing used, but with the cost of gas, and the fact that it's returnable if something goes wrong, we decided to go with a new one. (Wal-Mart is less than 5 minutes away)
Originally we were going to pay with cash, but I decided to use our credit card just in case for the extra protection - this is after all, WalMart we are talking about. We'll send off an extra payment for the cost here in a few days. (On the bright side, I also earned points towards a gift certificate through my credit card for the purchase, so that helps a little)
The sales clerk who helped us load it recommended we wait 24 hours before plugging it in to allow the freon to resettle after the journey home, so we'll follow that bit of advice. I hadn't planned on turning it on anyways as I don't have enough to fill it enough yet - I'll work on that tomorrow. We have plans to meet family in another town, and there is a Grocery Outlet nearby, so I will see if they have any good deals on frozen food at the moment.

Chores Today
We're taking advantage of the slightly warmer, not so rainy day today to get a few things accomplished around here.
I have all the windows open to take advantage of the fresh air. It always makes me feel better when I can feel the breeze and I know it's airing out the house. I know it's bad for my allergies, but it's nice to let out some of the toxins that build up in here I am sure.
My father traveled over to help DH take care of some of the leaks around the windows that sprung up with the last batch of heavier rains. They're busy caulking right now.
I've done some work in my flower beds, clearing up some weeds that seem to keep coming back (grrr!)
I've swiffered the floors and I still need to mop the kitchen and bathroom floors.
The laundry troll apparently visited my house overnight. I went from having a load to do, to suddenly having 5! For a second, I had a glimpse of what it is going to be like one day having a house of teenagers - except this hidden load of laundry came from my DH! I'm not exactly sure where it all came from (or where he had it stashed) but I'm already on load #4. Normally I like to do one load a day, after 9 pm to take advantage of the energy savings for our bill, but this is one time I'll pretend money is no object. The thought of staring at a pile of laundry for several days while I slowly tackle it makes me cringe. I'm very thankful for my stash of laundry products!
I'm also trying to figure out where I want to move my china cabinet to make room for our deep freezer. It's currently at the perfect spot and very easy for me to pull out our dishes, but it's also at the perfect spot with an electrical outlet for the freezer.
I'm still trying to figure out what I will be making for dinner. I defrosted some ground pork overnight, so something with that. I think I will bake a loaf of honey nut bread for dessert.

Great Ideas For Those Extra Clothespins
The folks over at Be Thrifty Like Us posted a great entry today about how you can use those extra clothespins you may have lying around.
They are also great for crafts for the kids, especially if you are going to use their magnet idea. Let them decorate the clips by gluing pictures, fabric scraps, painting them, adding glitter (if your kids are old enough) or even just coloring them with crayons! It's a great rainy day project (or for Sunday school/ after school activities)
I have several that are decorated myself. I use these to hang cards on a piece of string during the holidays and birthdays.
My cats also seem to think they are the greatest thing ever. If I drop one and don't realize it, they will bat it around. (Why do I buy them toys from Petsmart again?)

If you haven't already picked up your free after rebate items for the Walgreen's Rebate Program, tomorrow will be a good day to do so! Using this $5 off a purchase of $20 or more coupon will help cover at least making back the tax on your purchases (and hopefully make a teeny bit of a profit as well!)
I'm reading that the total has to be $20 AFTER all other coupons, so keep this is mind if you are using a stack of coupons. Now to go in search of my Walgreens ad - I'll let you know what I end up adding to my list.

It's Time To Start Menu Planning Each Week
I went through my receipts for the last few weeks and realized I had 2 "renegade" trips (ie, I don't want to cook trips) and spent way too much on convenience foods for my taste. Actually, it's not the buying of convenience foods that bothers me, not at all - it's the buying of convenience foods when it's not the best possible price that bothers me.
To tackle this problem, I need to start planning my menus a little further than what I do. Usually, I plan it out the day before or that morning. I'm also hoping the upcoming freezer purchase will help out - I can store a couple of bags of fries, for instance, for the lazy evenings when I just don't feel up to cooking an entire dinner. (In all fairness, my lazy evenings tend to stem from creating dinner when DH comes home late night from work - usually around 11 pm to midnight. At that point, I can just be worn out.) Getting the feezer means I will also be able to freeze meals that I can just defrost and re-bake - my freezer just doesn't allow it at the moment (I have been calling my side by side fridge the bachelor fridge the last few weeks as it just doesn't tend to hold enough)

Smaller Sizes Starting to Arrive At Your Dollar Tree!
We had to make a quick run to return a movie we had forgotten to the library, so I made the most of the gas and ran into our local Dollar Tree.
The Reynolds Aluminum Foil that was 25 feet to a box is now 20 feet.
The 13 gal trash bags I usually buy went from 16 bags to 14 bags. I noticed there was still several boxes lurking with 16 at the bottom of the shelf, so I grabbed the last ones for my stockpile.
I'm sure there are other things shrinking, so now might be a time to stock up on anything you purchase from there if you can afford to.
Mine still has the 2 pound bags of rice at $1, but the only pasta to be found was the boxes of Barilla (which you can get the same price at other assorted grocery stores and earn points towards lower gas prices!)

Fred Meyer 6/8-6/14
Here's what I have found interesting in my FM ad this week:
*tomatoes on the vine - 78cents a pound (at the rate my plants are going, I'm glad to see this!)
*FM half gallon milk or orange juice - 5/$5 with insert coupon (limit 5)
*Gatorade 32 oz - 69 cents each with insert coupon (limit 10)
*C& H sugar 5 lb - $1.99 each with insert coupon (limit 1)
*Hormel Black Label bacon - 2/$5 with insert coupon (limit 4)
*Aquafresh toothpaste (selected varities) - 99 cents with insert coupon(limit 2)
I think there might be a coupon for the Aquafresh that you can combine with the FM coupon that would make it free or almost free, but your YMMV on whether your FM allows you to piggy back or not (they should, as one is a manufacturers coupon, one is a store coupon, but we all know sometimes stores vary on their policy) All limits are per day.
In the store, I noticed Fred Meyer brand personal pizzas in the Three Meat variety marked down to 50 cents each from 99 cents. The FMV brand hamburger and hot dog buns are still 39 cents each (your first two) all summer long. There are also waffles still marked at $1 a box (I believe it is either Kroger brand or Fred Meyer)
Buy two or more Purina Dog snacks (any size or variety) and receive a $1 catalina coupon good on your next purchase (buy 3 and get $2.50, 4 and get $4) combine these with the $1.50 off coupons for Busy Bone, T-Bonz and Cheew-es rolls that were out in the Sunday coupons last week to get maximum bang for your doggy treat buck! Good through 6/22, you have to do it all in one transaction to get the catalina though.
Nothing too exciting again this week, I fear. I did notice that my few coupons I used today counted towards my Rewards total (usually the cents off ones don't count) I'm not sure if this is a new thing or just a kink in their system. Let me know if it happens for you too!

Dealing With Multiple Coupons
Having had another cashier mess up my coupons this last week (not taking off the correct amount on free items - ouch!) I have decided I am going to keep a better system:
I'm going to begin taking a calculator with me always and adding up my costs as I put things into the cart and then take off the coupons. This might make it a little more time consuming, but I'm tired of being shorted. I'm also going to be bringing post it notes with me - when I have a coupon for a free item, I am going to write the price down on the post it, and attach it to the coupon. I figure the bright colors should get the clerks attention and hopefully match up with the correct price. ;) I suppose it might irritate some cranky clerk out there one day, but I know there's lots of them that will be grateful to have it to match up to.

Save-A-Lot, WA locations
I always hear people going on and on about Save-A-Lot, both in the blogging world and in real life. A few months ago we did have one open up here (yes, I went opening day to take advantage of a free sample gift box, of course), and I have been in and out several times looking to grab something quick, but I've never done a match down comparision with them... until now.
Apparently, they have shopping carts at the front of this location showing their prices vs Fred Meyer vs Safeway... and of course they are saying that Save-A-Lot is the cheapest by $50.
Not so fast, Save-A-Lot. There's a few things cheaper, yes, but unless you are paying full price for everything that cart elsewhere, no, you're not. I saw a lot of things that were the same price if not cheaper at Fred Meyer's, for instance (Nalley chilli cans - 79 cents, Save-A-Lot; vs Hormel Chilli cans, 79 cents at Fred Meyer - AND you earn points towards the gas at FM!)
Also, you can't use coupons. Another strike. If you are quickly trying to feed a family and not matching up with any sales or using any coupons, then perhaps Save-A-Lot might save you money. I did see some good deals that came home with me:
*Zote laundry soap bars (I love these! It lasts forever!)- 69 cents each!
*frozen chicken - price varied, but there were trays with 2 nice pieces for under $1.80 each. Not an incredible price, but since I was there I took advantage of it.
*Batman bye bye boo-boo ice packs - $1 each (very cute, batman shaped heads. Anyone with toddlers or even older boys, this is a great deal, even as a stocking or basket stuffer)
*$1 DVDs - I picked up a copy of The Lady and The Highwayman, with Hugh Grant in it. The selection wasn't that grand, but for $1, it ends up cheaper than a round trip to the library, and I can watch it whenever I want
*2pk Pringles cannisters - $1.39 They had Sour Cream and Original at my location. I think the can is a little smaller than the ones sold at Wal-Mart and the Dollar Tree for $1... and of course, you can generally find these on sale for 79 cents each at Walgreens, Rite Aid and CVS most weeks, so not a great deal.
*C&F dried green split peas 1 lb package - 69 cents Now this is a deal - I rarely find it for less than a $1 a pound anywhere else.
So for me, a trip to Save-A-Lot isn't worth it unless I am nearby for other things (luckily, it's on the way to several stores, so worth it just to pop in for the green peas!) I did notice that the price of the rice had doubled since the last time I was in there last month - ouch!

Dealing With Power Outages
We've lost the power in this area three times this week! At least it's better weather - ie, not snowing with 10 degrees outside, but it has reminded me of things I always should have done, just in case.
*Keep at least a gallon of water per person and pet, with 3 days worth OUTSIDE of the fridge. The last thing you want to be doing is opening the fridge after the power has gone out.
*Tape the fridge shut as soon as I discover the power is out. Some of you might be going huh? as you are reading this one, but that's just because you don't have husbands (and probably teenagers) who open the fridge for no reason, just thinking maybe the contents might have changed in the last hour or something (my DH is guilty!)
*Keep my freezer as full as can be. This doesn't neccesarily mean full of food - keeping the extra space full of water filled empty soda 2 liters helps a lot if the power is out. The fuller your freezer (or fridge is) the more coldness is trapped in there. (This also helps keep your freezer from running constantly when the power is on - more electricity savings for you!)
*Keep my sink and dishwasher clear. The last thing I want is a sinkful of dishes and no water for 3 days because something has happened to the water line - imagine the smell in extremely hot weather. Yuck!
*Keep my laundry caught up on. Who wants to have to do even more laundry when the power comes back on after a couple of days? And think, if you were backed up on laundry when it went out, you'll have to be spending more (if you can even leave home to begin with) just to have clean underwear!
*Keep a spare can opener on top of my manual can opener. This is another huh? I know, but several months ago I broke a manual can opener while trying to open a can. When you loose the power, you tend to eat canned goods - the last thing you want to do is be unable to open food for your family.
*Keep a stockpile of canned and dry goods that don't need warmed up. Peanut butter, tuna, crackers, canned fruit are all good things to have several of in your cabinents. (Just remember to check the dates and rotate them often if it's not food you consume on a regular basis.)
*Have a flashlight stored in every room, and know where they are. I keep ours in places we might be if the power went out - by the couch, on the kitchen counter, next to the beds, on the back of the toilet (remember to disinfect that one when cleaning the bathroom if you do that as well!) When changing the batteries on your smoke alarm, try to check all the flashlights to make sure they work properly.
*Keep a stash of towels and rags. This is in case a pipe bursts from the cold if you have no heat, or if you have leaks from heavy rain and ice (believe me, you can go through those very quickly when the time comes!)
*Keep my cell phone completely charged. After a day or two without power, you will really want to be able to call out.
*And finally, making sure our house is properly marked outside with our street number. Just so the electric company can find my house easier when trying to fix the lines. (Also very good for any emergency personnel at any times - not just for you, but for your neighbors)

Chores today
Between my not feeling well the last few days and this lovely cold and rainy weather, I've got a bit to get caught up on (slowly).
I need to get caught up on laundry - but the last load I did, the washer was making a scary sound. (Granted, I know it's on it's last legs - I think it's the original washer from when this house was built back in the - gasp! 80's. I've been waiting for a really great sale/funds to be available before I broke down and replaced the appliances that were in this house when we purchased it)
I need to do more dusting - with the fireplace on, there's extra dust again.
Disinfect the kitchen - wipe down all the cabinent doors and handles, as well as clean out/wipe down the fridge, and oven.
Dinner tonight will be marianated steaks, green beans, and mashed potatoes with gravy. Nothing too involved as I am still not feeling very well.
The bathroom needs cleaned, pronto. Oh, DH tried to help out there when I asked him to, but it needs my attention, as I am sure any other wife understands. ;)
That's it for today, as I am not going to push myself too far.

Brrrrrr!
It certainly doesn't feel like June over here in Western WA! I've had to keep feeding the woodstove for the last couple of days so we don't get any sicker in this house. It says it is 55 outside, but it is so damp from the heavy rain we have been having that it feels about 40.
With all that rain, we are finding out we have some serious repair work to get started on when it's dry. We have several windows leaking - not good!
Our Wal-Mart still had some of the winter window treatments marked down to $1 a box (the plastic you shrink with a hair dryer) so I picked up several more to add to our stash for next winter. At that price I would rather have a little extra (and just use it to seal the windows in the garage) than pay the usual $10 for this large box because we didn't have enough!

A Recycled Idea
I actually read about this in a magazine ages ago. You know all the pretty square tissue boxes? The ones you actually splurged on to match a room because you were having company over? After they are empty, you don't need to send them on to the recycling bin just quite yet. If you keep plastic bags around for any use (we keep the ones we do get for cat litter), roll up the bags and store them in the empty tissue box! It's very easy to pull one right out, doesn't take up much room, and of course, blends in with your decor!
I have pretty celestial one I keep on my kitchen counter. We've been using it for months and it's still in great shape!

Good Deal Alert! (YMMV)
If you have a Baby Gap/Gap Kids store close to you, they have track style elastic waist pants for toddler boys marked down to 97 cents! They had green and black left at my store, but I know they also had them in black and red at one point too. Sizes 2T and 3T were left. They also had girls flare legggings (assorted colors) in size 5 marked down to $2.97.

My Coupon Holder Is Dying
Yes, all the sides keep riping, and the holder to keep it closed has long since disappeared. I don't think I paid more than 50 cents for it, if that (I purchased it at a Goodwill store that sold items by the pound) so I know I have gotten my money's worth from it - but oh how the change saddens me!
I'll be stalking blogs over the next couple of days to see what systems others are using before I decide how I will be replacing mine. Any suggestions? I need it to fit into my purse so it's always with me.

Points Programs I Love
These are the points programs I do on a regular basis. When I first started out doing things on the internet, I jumped in full throttle (I had more time back then, lol) - I joined lots of programs. Some paid me, some were a waste of my time (completely!) I was clicking on emails and pages left and right... and got totally burnt out. I suppose if you have a limitless amount of time, you can do a ton of these and probably make some decent spending money. I don't see how anyone would be making a ton unless they are having 1.5 million people sign up underneath them. ;)(if you're not a member and would like to join under me, leave a comment or email me with your email and I can send you an invite, otherwise just use the links)
MyPoints
My favorite of the bunch. I have been a member since 1999. You can receive paid emails, worth 5 points each. Sometimes they give you extra points for signing up for sites or entering contests. You can also receive points back for shopping through them (each site varies) Then you can trade in points towards gift cards. At the time I am writing this, 1550 points will get you a $5 Wal-Mart of Target gift card. (They have a pretty good selection, including CVS and Walgreens for you drugstore divas!) I usually get mine within 2-3 weeks max of requesting them - once I even had it the same week! It does seem like it might take awhile to get to the point of requesting a card, but honestly, it doesn't take me more than 2-3 months and I rarely purchase online through them.
Memolink
This one takes longer to cash out, but it's similar to MyPoints in that it's mostly emails and shopping. You can also take surveys worth points that sometimes results in product tests or focus groups. They have an even better selection of gift cards, and also send them promptly. They actually credit for shopping much faster than MyPoints does.
Inbox Dollars is one I have been doing for a few months now. I haven't been paid as of yet, but all I do is click on the emails and I am already at over $17 (you need $30 to cash out unfortunately) The good part about this one is that it pays cash. I get an average of 3-4 emails a day, so it really doesn't take more than a minute a day, and that's why I am giving them a chance. They have other ways for you to get closer to the $30 by taking surveys and signing up for offers (which I don't bother with as I do my surveys through Memolink) If you sign up through the banner below they will give you a $5 head start bonus to get you closer to the $30 cash out level.
Do you have any programs you are a member of that you think I should join? Tell me about them!

Monday Mail Call!
I love Mondays, only because I miss not having the mail on Sundays. The Sunday paper sort of makes up for no mail, but since my paper went AWOL yesterday, I was stalking the mail carrier even worse today!
The haul wasn't huge, but it was good stuff:
Free sample of Colgate Max Fresh with $1 off coupon
Free sample of Good Nights boxers from Wal-Mart
a check for $5 from Your 2 Cents survey panel (yay!)
I also had a $1 payment in my PayPal from Opinion Place this morning. Not a huge amount by any means, but it did pay for the lot of coupons I purchased off eBay yesterday!
If you haven't already requested this, here's a link to What To Expect Guide to a Healthy Home It looks like it might be a good read to have and keep on your bookshelf - even if you don't already have kids or they are long grown there should be some good information in there for you!
Also, if you have a Friendly's near you, on June 7th from 12-5 pm they are giving away a free ice cream! Call your local restaurant before heading down there with the kids to be sure: Locations I miss Friendly's, we used to visit one in the MidWest but now there's none nearby. They really do have great ice cream!

Alright, Who Stole My Sunday Paper?
Seriously, I've been out there 3 times now, and there's no paper in sight. I tried calling the paper, but of course since it's Sunday, it's not open. :(
I want my coupons! I want my sale ads! My whole Sunday routine is off. :(
