Preparedness Tuesday
It's Preparedness Tuesday - each Tuesday I post one thing you can do to help prepare you and your family for everyday disasters - be it job loss, bad weather (between being stuck in the middle of hurricane season, and the coming colder winter we're predicted), or even that ugly recession they keep talking about (blech!)
This week I simply want to remind everyone to take a moment to survey your surroundings. Work on your family's plans of what each member should do in case of an emergency. Check to make sure you have a three day supply of food that can be easily prepared without electricity, and a three day supply of drinking water for your family and pets. Finish clearing out those dead branches that could fall on your house during a freak ice storm and possibly damage it. Make sure all your flashlights have working batteries in them.
With all the insane weather we have had throughout the country, between floods, and extra inches of snow, it's best to have items you need on hand and ready to go, instead of having to brave the elements to go out and pick up that package of toilet paper! ;)

We have no preparations in place in event of a disaster, but now I realize that we should. Thanks for the tip.
