My mail has been arriving wreaking of cheap cigarette smoke - it's quite clear the mail carrier has got to be chain smoking in the (USPS) vehicle. And I mean serious chain smoking.
DH brought in our mail earlier and it took me awhile to figure out why my allergies went completely insane! I'm fine around some smoke (I used to smoke myself years ago) but trust me, this smell is unreal. I had to throw the boxes outside and the smell is still lingering!
It's not the first time our stuff has smelled strongly, so I know it's not the sender.

Um, gross! Are the goods inside affected? Is there someone you can call because that doesn't seem ok.
