Murphy, Why Can't You Just GO AWAY?
Over the last few days we've been dealing with a couple of clogged drains. The kitchen was the worst, but for some reason the bathroom sink was taking forever to go down as well.
So off we went to get Draino on my FIL's recommendation. Draino will fix anything, he says.
Nope.
Try it again, he suggested. There's no need to call a plumber.
I tried it. I even tried baking soda and vinegar. (OK, that was more for my own amusement of watching it fizz, because I knew at this point it was a lost cause)
After that, and flushing it with a ton of hot water, it seemed to be tons better last night. Whoo hoo, I thought. Problem almost solved.
Except this morning, apparently back to square one. Did you know you can't run the dishwasher when you have a clogged kitchen drain? I didn't! How come no one tells me this stuff??!! I thought I was so smart, bypassing the sink.
I am now all out of clean towels from the water all over my kitchen floor. *scowls*
Did I mention it happened not 60 seconds after DH left for work, carpooling?
Murphy, I hate you.

i hate plumbing issues ... i had a pipe burst the other day, thankfully we caught it quickly. grr
Great article, I've certainly had my share of Murphy's Law. I know where you're coming from. Murphy-Be-Gone!
Ugh. Sounds like a mess!
My son put Dawn Dishwashing soap our dishwasher tonight. Anastasia opened it up when she got home to get a dish and wanted to know why it was full of bubbles.
Fun! So I sprinkled some table salt in the bottom and ran it again. (Salt kills the bubbles.) Don't ask me how I know this.
