Recipe: Cheesey Hash Browns

I found the original recipe in a book of slow cooker recipes. The original one didn't sound that appetizing plus it used a rather expensive ingredient so I changed some of it (OK, most of it) Pick up your hash browns at the Dollar Tree - it keeps the cost down and trust me, they taste the same in this recipe as if you used the $3.99 bag. ;)

1 bag of shredded hash browns, thawed
1 can cheese & broccoli soup (or cheese any flavor)
1 bag broccoli florets, thawed
1 lb ground sausage (or chicken or turkey)
1/2 cup milk

Brown the sausage and drain thoroughly.

Add the hash browns, sausage, soup and milk. Mix it all together so everything is coated. You can add a little more milk if you feel it's not coating everything.

Next, add the broccoli. I used a bag that had cheese with it to make it more cheesy (that's not carrots in the pic lol) but it's your choice as to what kind you use. Again, mix it in with the hash mix.

Cook on high 2-3 hours, or low 4-5. I prefer low because it does have milk in it, but if you're in a hurry, use the high, but no more than 3 hours (and check it half way to make sure it's not scorching depending on your slow cooker!) Serve with biscuits.

I had no leftovers (DH ate it all!) so it must have been good!

Cost:
hash brown $1.00
soup $1.00 (stalk the Campbell's until it's on sale!)
broccoli $1.00
ground sausage $1.29
milk $0.25
Total: $4.49 for 4-6 servings

My husband would love this save the broccoli.
