I'm sure by now, anyone who reads my blog has figured out I am a KLUTZ. I guess somehow with the whole Murphy's Law thing, bumps and bruises just have to happen to me.
I've been really working on our first aid supplies and making sure we have good quality products in the house. The last thing I want is a preventable health problem for any of us!
I was contacted by StaphASeptic and asked if I wanted to try out Tec Labs' products - perfect timing! When the box arrived, I opened it and left it on the counter and went back to making lunch. DH (who is in nursing) saw the StaphAseptic, and he got all excited, and took off with the business card, so I knew right away it was definitely a quality product.
StapAseptic is an antiseptic and pain relieving gel that is antibiotic free. Staphylococcus aureus, or Staph as most people usually call it, is a bacteria using found on the skin or in the nose of healthy people. Sometimes Staph can cause skin infections, which is something us parents need to be aware of and take the proper steps to avoid.
MRSA, or Staph, can be spread via close skin-to-skin contact, cuts in the skin, and contaminated surfaces and equipment. Did you know that some Staph infections cannot be killed with even commonly used anti-biotics? Yikes!
And guess what? Cats and dogs can spread MRSA too, not just humans (now don't go using StapAseptic on them! Just remember, if someone in your home has an infection, have your pets visit the vet to make sure they aren't carrying it too!)
In studies, StaphAseptic has been found to kill 99.9% of antibiotic resistant staph (MRSA).
We received a multi use tab, and my favorite, individual use packets that fit perfectly in your diaper bag and purse.
I was really hoping one of us would end up with a wicked scratch just so we'd have a really good excuse to use StaphAseptic... and all I ended up with was a bunch of little cuts - drat! (Don't worry, I wouldn't have scared you with photos of the cuts - I hate blood and gore!)
I did try it out on one of the smaller cuts, and it doesn't sting or burn upon application. The smell isn't as overwhelming as I thought it would be. The one minor annoyance I had was with the tube, not the product itself - it was very hard to get the small application part open with nails. DH had to open it for me.
I think the small packets especially are great to have on hand in your purse for areas where your kids could get cut and come in contact with major germs - especially play areas. All it could take is a small cut, and this product could help combat it. For that reason alone, I'd include StaphAseptic into my preparedness kits for the car and home.
StaphASeptic is available at most drug stores, including CVS and Walgreen's. They even have a printable coupon for you to save $3.00 off your purchase of StaphASeptic so you can have it in your first aid kit!

Sounds like something I would want...I'm such a germaphobe (obviously from the post you left a comment on...btw I was thinking about saying something but just didn't...).
Great review!
Wow lucky you! Sounds like a great product and with two boys I need all the first aid help I can get!
I work with the pharmacy professor who invented StaphAseptic, and this stuff is like magic. My mother's under the nail fungus has cleared up, and it works on pretty much anything.
