Thrifty Thursday: Slow Cooker Love

This week's Thrifty Thursday post is about using your slow cooker to save money and stretch your family's budget.

Of course everyone knows that using a crock pot can save you time by having dinner ready when you come home in the evening or while you are doing other things at home.

But did you also know it can save you money? Running a crock pot on low for 8 to 10 hours will cost you about $0.07 each day.

Yes, a whole seven cents! Compare that to running the oven for about an hour, which will cost you around $0.60-$0.70, depending on how energy efficient your oven is.

A slow cooker can also turn just about any cut of meat into a delicious meal. That $1.59 a pound package of beef tastes just as delicious as the $5.99 USDA Choice beef.

Interesting. I like to use mine in the summer months when I'm on the run.
