Behold, Mystery Plants!

So I've been bombing on the whole gardening thing again this year. I've known for years I have a black thumb, but if at first you don't succeed, try again... and again... so I keep trying. ;)

The neighbors' rotten cats seem to think my yard is the equivalent of Disneyland. There's just something about my deck railings and even my roof that just makes them so darn happy. I love cats (obviously, or I wouldn't have a little posse roaming my house) but there's a couple of the neighbor's cats that really need to stay in their own yard. (No, it's not Elvis. Elvis is too fat to jump on my roof) So far, they've managed to knock multiple planters off my deck... even one that must weigh around 20 pounds is now broken, and I have no clue how they tipped it over.

Anyways, yesterday I was trying to clean up the dirt off the deck from the latest knocked over container, and came across two sprouting bulbs. I was confused, I mean really confused, because nothing from seed has grown this year, and they hadn't been above the dirt earlier in the day, and yet they seemed pretty big. I hurriedly placed them in the only planter that looked safe (this one's pretty heavy, if they knock it over they are definitely Cat Kong) and spent the rest of the night trying to figure out where in the heck these plants came from.

I finally figured it out this afternoon. DH bought me a lily last year - a lily that totally bit the dust a few weeks in.

Now I have two lilies that will bite the dust this year? lol At any rate, I grew something! I grew something! (now, if only my tomatoes will just hang in there!)

lol! I try every spring to grow something amazing...without luck of course. Last year my daughter {who is 4} planted sunflower seeds and they grew like giant bean stalks!

Oops, I signed out of my blogger account and now am not sure if I'll be able to submit this comment!

Anyway, what I wanted to say was that I too have not yet been nominated for 'Gardener of the Year' but I have not given up...gardening that is. I have somehow managed to let few plants go to waste but I am working up towards getting every single plant looking lush and green and thriving and simply pulsing with life, you'd feel it with your eyes closed! And all that by way of saying, don't give up and all the best!
