In recent years, the Care Bears, like lots of other 80's cartoons, have made a comeback as the 80's generation is having kids of their own. The Care Bears have had a little bit of a face lift too in their new TV series ;)

When we got the opportunity to review the new animated DVD Care Bears: Tell-Tale Tummies, I totally jumped on it. You know how sometimes we as Moms totally ignore the TV when our kids are watching it? Me, I was the one watching it - and not just for review purposes, either! LOL

Care Bears: Tell-Tale Tummies will be released on June 9, 2009. It's 88 minutes long, and is one of the new DVDs that feature Kid Friendly Direct-Play, which allows children to play the DVD without the assistance of a parent. (Once the DVD is put into the DVD player, it automatically starts without the need for the remote or hitting any buttons on the player. As a parent, you can look at it as a good thing or a bad thing.)
This DVD teaches kids valuable lessons about honesty, integrity and telling the truth - a really good lesson for our kids. There are eight episodes including “The Tell-Tale Tummy,” “Oopsy, the Hero,” “Bumbleberry Jammed,” “Desperately Seeking Mr. Beaks,” “King of the Gobblebugs,” “Bad News,” “Tour De Farce” and “No-Snow Day.” Each episode is on the short side, so you can easily pause/stop the DVD after an episode if you want to keep TV viewing to a minimum. (Maybe an episode would make a good potty training reward?)
I actually hadn't heard about Oopsy, the newest Care Bear until I watched this. Back in the old days (LOL) I think the Care Bears were really for us girls only - but the new episodes definitely appeal to boys too. This DVD is a good choice for the 2 to 6 years old crowd. Suggested retail price is $14.99, but I'm sure there will be some good sales on it. (If you want to pre-order it, Amazon's price at the moment is $10.99)
