Pillsbury Bake-Off Giveaway

I am a big Pillsbury fan. I use a lot of different Pillsbury products in my kitchen, and I get all excited when I get a good deal on the different Pillsbury cooking magazines. Check out my latest score, the Bake Off Cookbook from their Silver Anniversary in 1974. Yes, it's older than me, lol:


There's a couple of really good recipes in there, such as Quick Bacon N Tomato Crescents. There's a picture with it, and I've got to tell you, it made me drool a little!

As my returning readers probably know, my love of Pillsbury also extends to the Doughboy. In my thrifting hunts, I am ALWAYS on the search for Doughboy goodies, never mind that the blue doesn't match the redness of my kitchen. Somehow, this started years ago when my not yet DH started giggling when I poked his stomach (ah, the silly things we do when we are young, LOL) and now it's just expanded into general doughboy silliness. (and you'll see where I am going with this in a minute)

Pillsbury is asking folks to help with the judging of this year's Pillsbury Bake-Off contest, the first time in history they have done this! We can help determine 10 recipes among the final 100 that will compete for the $1 million grand prize! Isn't that cool? Here's the official information:

How does the You Be the Judge! voting work? Judges will select 20 recipes to be placed online at www.bakeoff.com in pairs for a period of two weeks for each pair. Consumers can vote for their favorite recipe in each pair. The recipe from each pair that wins the most votes will earn a spot in the final competition, April 11-13, 2010, in Orlando, Florida.

Voting is limited to one vote per person per each pair of recipes. Voters must be registered members of www.pillsbury.com and 18 years of age or older as of May 1, 2009, to participate.

The first pair of recipes was posted on May 14, 2009 and a new pair of recipes will be posted every two weeks (namely, May 28, June 11, June 25, July 9, July 23, August 6, August 20, September 3 and September 17, 2009). The voting period for the tenth and final pair of recipes will close at 11:59AM CDT on October 1, 2009. Visit www.bakeoff.com for the official rules.

Now apparently, MyBlogSpark knows about my love for the dougboy, because they sent me a box with a cookbook magazine full of past Bake-Off recipes, and A GIGGLING DOUGHBOY!

I excitedly tore into that box, let me tell you, and sprung him loose from the package. Apparently, someone has a sense of humor because they sent me Zombie Giggling Doughboy. I kid you not, his batteries arrived just about DOA, and he makes the most horrid zombie moaning sound that runs about a whole minute! LOL!!! (DH could not get to his tools fast enough to remove those batteries, let me tell you! LOL) I guess the person who was packing my box was repeatedly poking the doughboy belly too? I should have vlogged it, but I was laughing too hysterically to think about it.

The cookbook magazine is full of great recipes! There's a couple that I am really excited to try out.
