Birthday Dialer is a fun new service that allows you to call someone with a musical birthday greeting. You have two choices in how to use Birthday Dialer's service:
Free, which plays an ad, and a limited amount of choices such as not being able to schedule the call ahead, or having your phone number shown as the call from number.
Or you can buy "tokens", skip the ad, and have a lot more choices, including when the call is sent (you can plan ahead!) and calling international as well as a customized message. If you use the paid version, use your "tokens" and a call can cost between 20 to 95 cents each.
I got all excited that they even had a Spanish choice - CumpleaƱos Feliz . You can even hear Marilyn Monroe sing Happy Birthday Mr. President. Not your cup of tea? They have a traditional Happy Birthday song, and several other choices.
Now, granted I am a grade A dork, and I love this kind of stuff. I like fun stuff that doesn't kill the environment for birthdays, and this is a great option.
Saturday was my mommy's birthday so I had the perfect opportunity to try it out. Well, the first one I sent to my mother apparently either disappeared into the great frontier or I somehow missed the number and didn't see the mistake on the confirmation page. (maybe I'm a little too used to just clicking "mommy" on my cell phone menu LOL) So after an hour of waiting, (and ending up blowing part of the surprise, gah!) I went back and sent a second call. That one she did receive, and totally loved it. Her call was about 20 seconds long.
The only thing is I would like to see the phone number and time in the confirmation email they send you after it's completed, so in cases like mine I could verify if I made a mistake or it's off in space (so the poor person doesn't get 5 calls in a row! lol)
I found it a cute service, especially for free!, perfect to use to send to your spouse at work, or for family across the country (you can even call international, it just uses more tokens). It's easy to use, and each step for the call is on a different page so you don't get messed up.
Just make sure you check and double check that number, so the wrong person doesn't have a heart attack when they get the call instead. Well, unless you want to prank them. (They actually do have a separate part of their company for that! LOL)
Now, excuse me, I'm off to schedule Marilyn Monroe for DH's birthday coming up. Because I'm a dork.

Thanks so much for telling us about www.BirthdayDialer.com I plan to use it every time a birthday comes around. Great fun for free!
That does sound cool...but really I'm stuck on you still calling your mom 'mommy'...that's cracked me up :D
That's a neat idea. I checked out the site but was disappointed that they didn't have anything for Fathers day. Oh well, I'll have to remember it for my moms birthday this fall.
Another great idea from you!
hmmm
do they do drunk dials?
