Did you know that popcorn began it's popularity back in the depression, when it was one of few luxuries every day folks could enjoy? I didn't!
Even today, popcorn is still a great budget luxury. It's healthy (well, if not totally covered in butter lol) and it's a fun snack that brings the family together. Who doesn't love to hang out on the couch watching movies and snacking together?
Right now we're watching Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, borrowed from our local library for free. DH popped us a big bowl of yummy popcorn goodness:
(Actually, it's a little burnt, yours will probably look better. We got distracted lol) We dusted off the ol' microwave just for this batch. We also tried the kind that you can make on the stove top, (More up our alley) and lots of topping goodness.
Our favorite Kernel Season's Popcorn Seasoning on the popcorn was the Nacho Cheddar. We used the buttery Popcorn Spritzer first so the cheddar stuck well. The Kettle Corn was delicious too.
Now I know, from a frugal standpoint: popcorn is frugal, but toppings? Maybe not. Actually, it's not that bad. WalMart (as well as other stores) carries them for a decent price, or you can order online through Kernel Season's site. And Kernel Season's Popcorn Seasonings can be used on more than just popcorn, so don't worry if you don't use eat popcorn very often! Using some olive oil, I tossed some boring french fries and used the Parmesan & Garlic flavor to spice them up. YUM! Even better they are just 2 calories per serving, making them alright for your waistline. Sprinkle some of the ranch or white cheddar on a baked potato!
With all these toppings to choose from, I think we'll be indulging in Kernel Season's popcorn even more often! With 13 different flavors to choose from, there's such a variety that we can't really get bored.

Oh - everyone is making me hungry! We have in house movie nights all the time. I hate going to the theater and my boyfriend knows it so he saves his "movie theater" requests for the really big ones so we usually just rent movies at Redbox.
