Review & Giveaway: Log Cabin Original Syrup

We recently had the chance to try out Log Cabin's Original syrup.

Log Cabin syrup has been around for what seems like forever - over 120 years! Have you ever seen some of their vintage containers that it used to come in?

As you may know, I love vintage housewife related stuff, so yes, I get a kick out of checking out the old product lines. Did you know the brand was actually named in honor of Abraham Lincoln? (since I am sure someone out there has a blank look on their face, Mr. Lincoln was born in a log cabin)

If you haven't heard, Log Cabin has removed the high fructose corn syrup from their syrup line, and replaced it with natural sugar.

I'm not fond of HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) in foods, so as you can guess, I was really excited to hear the news and get to try it out. I happened to still have a bit left in another bottle that contained the HFCS, and hands down, the new version with the natural sugar tasted SO much better! (DH gives it two salivating thumbs up) I made it the first time with this absolutely yummy waffle recipe, and it tasted just like a banana muffin! (It's super easy, and all you have to do is add one mashed banana to my waffle recipe!)

Win it! The folks behind Log Cabin, Pinnacle Foods Group, is giving one of my lucky readers their own bottle of the new Log Cabin Syrup! To enter, tell me how often your family sits down together for a full breakfast, and what breakfast product you can't wait to try Log Cabin syrup on!

As always, you can receive extra entries for:

When I was growing up we'd sit down to a full breakfast once a week. Now my husband and I are lucky if we can do it once or twice a month. But we love making waffles when we do.

Everyday!!! That is the first thing we do after waking up.

Princess and I would eat it on waffles. Prince does not eat ANY kind of bread.

(my granny still has that metal container!)

My older kids make hubby and I breakfast in bed a couple times a week when school is out. It's such a special treat and I am so proud of my kids for doing it! I would love to try this syrup on my favorite pancake recipe...it's an oatmeal cookie pancake. Absolutely to DIE for.

Breakfast? Rarely. The kids are grown and gone, and it's just my retired husband and I. We never get up at the same time, so we hardly ever eat breakfast together. But we like syrup!

we don't really sit down for breakfast because we all eat it at different times, when we do I make the full spread. our favorite is waffles so that would be my first to try it on

We do homemade pancakes and waffles weekly but I hate to admit that we very rarely sit down at the dining table to eat together. I can't remember the last time. Luckily I can say dinner is a different story.

Our schedules mean we only get to sit down to breakfast as a family one day a week. I'd try it on gingerbread pancakes.

We sit down together for breakfast as a family on the weekends, and during the week its just my kids and I. We gave a tradition of waffles on Saturday mornings and the kids remember every week! We would use the syrup for the waffles.

We used to make a big breakfast and eat together on the weekends, but since my husband retired we're on different sleeping schedules(I sleep in,he's up all night and day) so he has breakfast with the grandkids that he starts babysitting at 5:30am. He makes them french toast that the Log Cabin will go great on.

Since my children are grown, and even my grandchildren are grown, everyone goes to work at different times and some work weekends as well. Therefore an all together family breakfast is really not possible. Pancakes are probably the favorite for syrup.

Thanks for the giveaway... We always have brunch together on Sundays (i.e. whole grain pancakes / waffles, eggs, sausage, etc.) and we try to eat breakfast together during the week but usually end up only sitting down at the table 2-3 days a week because of time constraints.

I am a "real maple syrup" fanatic (like George or Kramer...I forget which one...on Seinfeld) and I don't like the taste of the usual fake stuff they sell in the grocery store; there is nothing quite like the taste of warm maple syrup poured over whole grain pancakes with a big pat of real butter !!!
