Thrifty Thursday - Paper Towels

This week for my Thrifty Thursday post, I'm talking about saving money on paper towels.

Buy good quality paper towels. They may cost more in the first place, but if you are using less because one does the job instead of three or four, it evens out.

Choose the select-a-size paper towels instead. This will cut down on waste instead of using a whole sheet for the small jobs.

Buy large packs on sale with a coupon if you find yourself using lots of towels. Packages can easily be stored underneath beds or in the top of the closet while waiting to be used. This can often save you as much as $1 a roll depending on the brand!

If you are buying cheaper towels because you don't like lint on your windows from the plush kind, remember that newspaper actually tends to not leave streaks, and it's recyclable or you can still use it to start a fire if you have a fireplace.

For messes that aren't particularly icky, consider using micro-fiber reuseable towels or rags. Have a separate laundry basket under the sink to keep them in until you are ready to wash a load. You can purchase the microfiber towels at even the dollar store now! Cut up old t-shirts to use as rags too.

You know, the same principal goes to saving a lot of money on a lot of different items... detergents, hairspray, etc.
