ABC Gauze (Advanced Bleeding Control) is a new, all natural way to stop bleeding in cuts and scrapes. Unlike regular cotton gauze, it's made with a collagen like substance created from regenerated cellulose. This nifty new material "melts" into a gel when it comes into contact with blood (or other wet substances, if you're intrigued and want to play with it before you have an accident lol).
Simply remove it from the package, place it on a cleaned up wound and apply direct pressure. Within a few seconds, the material will have transformed. (As my DH who is in nursing says, COOL!) Kids or others who are easily amused like us may have their mind taken off their "boo-boo" by seeing it changed like magic to the gel. ;) We found it super easy to use.
ABC Gauze is available in four different sizes, from 1"x1" up to 4"x4". You can actually trim ABC Gauze to size before applying, or wash the excess off the non-open sore/scratch with sterile water if desired. Once you're ready to remove the gauze, it also just simply washes off, without ripping open any scabbing. My DH wants me to point out: because it is clear on top of the wound, you can easily monitor it for any infection. This makes it particularly wonderful for small children and senior citizens.
(Don't worry, I'm not going to gross you out with a picture of this on a fresh sore! lol There's a limit to the pictures I share on here! lol)
According to the website, you can also use it to stop nosebleeds, or even bleeding in the mouth.
The only drawback to some may be the cost: a package of 4 starts at $14.99 plus shipping. I'd probably recommend that at this cost if it's high to you that you skip using ABC Gauze for paper cuts, and save it for scrapes and serious cuts that aren't quite bad enough for an ER trip, but you'd be breaking out the gauze anyways.
You know this part is coming, right? Because ABC Gauze is so easy to use, and requires no extra components other than something to wash the wound with first, I highly recommend it as part of your emergency preparedness kits or even your every day first aid kits. As a mom, it's easy to slip into my purse or diaper bag in case it's needed. As a (alright, former now that I have a kiddo) frequent traveler, I find this a nifty addition to your backpack or suitcase in case it's needed.

Thanks for sharing your review! I agree about the cost; however, maybe with some great CVS or Wags promos and coupons we could get them at a bargain price and stock up!
Thanks for being one of last week's top droppers!
