Review & Giveaway: Jumpstart

I'm a big believer in products that allow kids to use their imagination, and most importantly, learn something. So when we received the chance to try out Jumpstart, I thought we'd see what it was all about!


According to Jumpstart's website:

JumpStart is an award-winning adventure-based 3D virtual world that is super-personalized, wildly imaginative and really fun, but don't let that fool you - it also teaches math, reading, and critical thinking skills so kids get a real jump start in life.

Jumpstart has received lots of great awards, including The Toy Man Award of Excellence 2008, Mom's Choice Awards 2008 Silver Recipient, the teacher's Choice Award for the Family 2007, and many, many more!


Jumpstart is geared for kids ages 3 to 10. You can create a personal little avatar called Jumpeez, or choose from pre-selected ones. You play all sorts of little games throughout the world in areas called Ghost Town Grab, Movie House, and many more - many of these areas are geared towards certain age ranges, but kids still visit each area as they wish, and continue learning!

Now I thought it was great as a Mom, but I decided to ask my MIL, who is a teacher, what she thought, so I sent her our link. She gave it two thumbs up too, and said she plans to recommend it to her students' parents in the fall! (I'm thinking that's a pretty good endorsement right there!)

Jumpstart has two memberships: a basic free one, that allows you to play a few games, or the paid membership, which costs $7.99 a month. If you're interested in trying Jumpstart, try out the free one and see how your child responds to it. With all the potential learning, you'll probably find that if you are playing it several times a week, the $7.99 a month is worth it, especially during these Summer months when you might be hearing your kids say they are bored all the time. ;)

I'm personally all excited about their upcoming game for the Wii towards pre-schoolers, called Pet Rescue! We'll definitely be buying that one for our family when it's out.
