Book Review & Giveaway: Catwalk by Kathie Freeman

I recently had the pleasure of receiving a copy of the book Catwalk: A Feline Odyssey by Kathie Freeman to review.

Catwalk is the story of a grey tabby cat who once lived with a nice family, told from her point of view. When the family had a baby, Tiger as she was called, was kicked outside, and eventually abandoned in an industrial area when she was pregnant with kittens! (Unfortunately, this happens all the time :( Some people are really cruel) She ends up finding a safe warehouse to stay in, and eventually is fed and loved by folks working there, even being renamed Tuffy, but one day ends up stuck in the back of a truck and taken across country! The story continues with her journey back to this warehouse.

Being a cat lover, I enjoyed this book immensely! (OK, I did sniffle a little when Tiger was abandoned, and at another sad part in the story) I actually finished it overnight, something I haven't done in a long time (I even sat up at night with a flashlight, just like when I was a kid LOL) So if you're owned by cats like me, or know someone who is: this book is for you (or them! It would make a great holiday gift!) A young novel reader can enjoy this book as well.

Win it! Kathie has graciously offered for one of my lucky readers to win their own copy of Catwalk too! (Thank you Kathie!) To enter, I'd like to know about the cat(s) who have been in your life! How did they come to be with you, a special story about them, etc.

I'll give you an extra entry if you blog about this giveaway with a link back, and yes, you can include your story about your cat in the post and leave that link as your first entry as well as leave it for your second.

And as always, my subscribers or followers get an extra entry.

Giveaway ends at 11:59 PM, October 3rd 2009. US only, and please remember to leave your email address or have it available in your profile so I can contact you!

My first cat came with my husband and our second cat we got when we moved in together. I always tell people how good our cats are. One Christmas my Aunt came to visit. After she left, she sent us an envelope that contained pictures of our youngest cat being naughty. There were quite afew pictures.

It sounds like an awesome book!

I am a Devon Rex cat that my mommeh got from a breeder. My brother Harley was born at a cat shelter: his mom was a feral cat who was brought in by a rescue organization to be spayed and released, but it turned out she was full term. The babies were delivered and went directly into foster care until they were old enough to live in the shelter. Harley lived there for 6 months before we adopted him!

the only cat I've ever owned was a black& white cat that was missing it's ears and front paw... She and my first dog were left behind by previous tenants when we moved into a house as a child...

Dandruff came to me almost 17 years ago...his first "owner" gave him up because he wouldn't listen to her. #1 He's a cat, #2 He's deaf. He's been a life-force for me ever since.

Moochie & Bouncer were born at the house behind mine. I took in 4 of the kittens & ended up keeping just the 2 of them.

Sid was a shelter cat I brought home on a weekend trip to the coast.

And Ducky was brought to me by a co-worker.

Thanks for the giveaway >^..^<

Our current cat, Ani, is the light of my life. She has a personality like no other cat I've ever had. She makes it clear to anyone that comes over that she is #3 in command, right after my husband and myself. She loves nothing more than to scream around the house and all levels at full speed. Ani loves to be in the same room with us at all times and will make a huge fuss if she cannot reach us. She gives the best hugs too!

I currently do not have a cat due to not being able to have them where I live. However, I used to have a cat named Lynx that would bring dead birds to our doorstep. He would go outside during the day and sleep in our house at night.

I think if I read this book, I will end up crying and hugging one of my cats a whole lot. All of our cats are strays and rescues. I don't understand how people can be so cruel.

I have had cats my whole life! I love them. My husband hates cats and when we moved in together I didn't have one at the time. I begged him for 3 years and he finally gave in. The cat I ended up getting was CRAZY, and mean. I was so sad that we had to get rid of her. She was not nice to my daughter at all. He ended up giving in again, and the cat we have now is the sweetest cat I have ever had. He sleeps with my daughter every night, and deals with my son trying to get his tail!
Thanks for the giveaway, I would love to read this!!

Our last cat's name was Mouse because she looked like a gray little mouse when she was little. Sadly, she passed away last year. She was about 12 years old and had cancer.

I always had dogs growing up and really did not know many cats. My sister lives alone in a condo. She decided to adopt a cat a few years ago. I love him! Rocky is the coolest cat. I love watching him play. He cracks me up.

I have always had cats but our last cat which is the one we have right now is Miss Abby. We added her to our family when the family she was with was lost in a house fire. She made it out and we have had her since that day 7 years ago and she has been a part of family that we love very much.

I got a female unspayed cat from the SPCA- took it for a checkup and made appointment for spaying. When I called to find out how the surgery went, they told me the cat gave them quite a surprise- I asked if she were pregnant, and they said no, she was an altered male!!!

We currently have the world's biggest tomcat named Romeo. My son was in preschool when we saw him in a pet store and he played with him. Well of course the kitten cried when my son put him back so my son (with his curly blonde locks and big blue eyes) started crying too saying "The kitty is crying for me". So my soft hearted husband bought it for him. That cat is STILL surgically attached to my son even though he's now a high school junior who's a lineman on his football team. They love to snuggle together. So sweet. Thanks so much! pamelashockley(AT)netscape(DOT)net
