Rant On! The News Edition

Color me psychotic here (haha), but this story is just annoying me to no end. Long story short: college kids had someone break in earlier in the day and stole their electronics. Someone came back, the kid confronted him, he was attacked by the intruder, and the kid defended himself with a sword. Attacker died at the scene.

This is the line that irritates me:

Guglielmi did not know why the student kept a sword. He said he may have had some martial arts training, but was not an expert.

A) Last I checked, it was perfectly legal to own a sword.

B) You don't have to have martial arts training to own a sword. Many swords are beautiful works of art. Ever been to a Renn Faire?

*pound head against wall* *pounds harder*

You know what? If someone broke in here and I waited until the police arrived, we'd be doomed. I couldn't even barricade the bedroom door, it's too flimsy. (Besides, what am I going to do? Block it with a cat perch or pack 'n play? LOL) I'd do the same thing as the kid. The intruder seems to have died from defensive wounds, not from a blatant straight blow to the chest.

Seriously, what next - are they going to question why someone had a steak knife in their home?

Maybe it's my inner Texan coming back out with this one, but if you force your way into my home, you'd better be prepared to leave it on a stretcher.

Yes, yes, yes, yes!!! I agree and there is a shotgun to prove it. You don't even want to mess with my family...I mean REALLY you don't. And if the government should ever try to take away my right to protect myself, God help the poor soul that comes to take my protection away.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!

Even in this lovely state of California if someone has both feet in your home that is not supposed to and you kill them it is NOT your fault!!!

This is WRONG so WRONG... I want to get stationed up there, should I think twice?

Nicole: I totally agree - they'll have to pry the shotgun from my cold, dead hands! LOL (Course, I'm sure if that law was passed, Texas WILL secede!)

Mistress: I think you're safe, this was in Maryland. :)

Well you heard about the guy who was going to break into a lady's house fell through the skylight and landed on a butcher knife?!? He lived and sued her and won!!!! What is our society coming to. I had a sword while my husband was deployed (courtsey of one of his friends). I have not studied martial arts nor do I care to. I was basically a single mom with two kids.
