Review & Giveaway: New Wave Enviro

If you've been on my blog before, you know I have a love-hate relationship with plastics. I avoid it as much as I can when it comes to my kitchen and food, but I'm kinda stuck. If I send my DH with glass, chances are it's going to get broken, or not come home at all. And we all know glass sippie cups, even if they did exist, wouldn't exactly be a very safe idea. lol So I begrudgingly stick to the higher quality plastics in hopes that they will not leach chemicals out as quickly as the cheaper stuff.

New Wave Enviro Products recently asked me if I was interested in reviewing a few pieces of their goodies. I received these items:


The bamboo lunch bag is so soft! It's also a lot bigger than I thought it would be. It's made of 100% bamboo. Bamboo is sustainable because it is the fastest growing plant, and so easily replaced because it grows plantlings on it's own. It is also anti-bacterial without needing chemicals, and hypoallergenic, again, due to no chemicals needed. The size of this bag is 6" by 6.5" by 10" - it's a great size for taking your lunch in it, and frozen dinners did fit in it (course, I didn't try it with the bigger frozen meals, just the regular Lean Cuisine size ones) The handles are pretty sturdy, even with a bottle of soda inside.


The stainless steel food container reminds me of the old school camping food canteens, and I just love that! The lid easily comes off, even a kindergartener could easily use it. However, it is a little smaller than I thought once I looked at it - depending on your sandwich, it may or may not fit into there (you may have to remove the crust or turn it sideways depending on your bread choice) and of course, because it is steel, you can't exactly microwave any contents in it. The size is 6" by 4.5" by 2". It's perfectly sized for chips and other snacks that you don't want to break, as well as fruit, salad, etc. Being stainless steel, it is a no leech product, much better than plastic, and you don't have to worry about breaking glass! (Preparedness folks: this would also make a nifty container to use as a mini first aid kit in your carry everywhere bag! I'm tempted to order one just for this purpose)


The stainless steel bottle is a beautiful color for sure, but as we all know, color doesn't mean anything. The 1 litre size is also great, perfect for an adult or teen. It is described as being virtually indestructible, and well, I got to test that out when it fell out of my bag onto the kitchen floor, lol. It lived to tell! (The bottle I received is slightly different than the one up above) My DH liked that when it was chilled, it stayed chilled longer than a plastic bottle would.
