Do I Look Delusional?

I mean seriously folks, DUH! I never thought Baby Einstein would help make my daughter a genius.

However, if given the choice between plopping my kid down in front of a soap opera, or a DVD that has something that maybe she might learn one or two things from so I can go to the bathroom... I'm going to choose the DVD. Background noise can be a good thing some days, and that's a whole lot better for my kid than say... Judge Judy. (Forgive me, we don't have TV here other than DVDs, so I have no clue what shows are still on the air, lol)

I don't see why folks are up in arms over the whole Baby Einstein thing and now going OH! I need a refund! They LIED TO ME! Are they seriously that delusional to begin with?

Oh wait, they are.

They are the annoying parents who think their kids have to be number 1 in line for every activity at school... the ones with kids who can never sit on the sideline while playing sports... the one with the kid that couldn't have started that fight.

*snicker*

Or maybe they are the ones that expect the TV to be their babysitter, and plop them in front of the TV for 16 hours a day while the parents do nothing but pick their noses, talk on the phone, etc.

I've done a review of a Baby Einstein here. The TV can answer the gibberish sentences for a few minutes while I put the dishes away!

(Just in case you came to this post looking for a link to the refund, here it is. For Baby Einstein's thoughts on the matter, click here.)

You nailed it right on the head. Who thinks watching a DVD is going to make their kid Einstein? Ridiculous.

lol this whole thing amuses me because my older cousin always told me my son could have been smarter if I'd bought some Einstein dvds lol but I had a veggie tales box set and never bothered. Now she's freaking out cause they didn't make her two kids any smarter and she NEEDS that refund...

I homeschool my kids and have from day 1.The homeschool is ECOT, so the children still have class and a teacher but it is all interactive online. My 6 year old son just skipped first grade..he can read 119 words a mintue, and my oldest can read 143 a minute at age 8.My 3 year old daughter can use a computer and play Nintendo DS and playstation learning games, and I never used Baby Einstein.Dora,Sesame Street,Etc worked just fine for me for those must have TV moments, and I could see them learning from those things..example both boys can speak some spanish and even the 3 year old can count in spanish .I have worked hard pounding education in their heads and they know anything below an A is unnacceptable in my book..because I am here every day and spend hours a day teaching them both the school curriculum and extra things I think are beneficial. All it really takes is parental guidance and praise for accomplisjments and they will learn anything you want them to.Baby Einstein was always a money maker and nothing more.

It's amazing, isn't it? I remember when the DVDs came out claiming this and I thought it was ridiculous then. Now people are getting refunds. It's all about the ME Generation these days, sadly.

Here's the way to make your kid smart--DON'T plop them in front of the TV! Interact with them. Put down the cell and talk to them. Perhaps read a book with them. Too many parents are looking for ways to ditch their kids and that makes me sad--for both of them.

this was very well said....

I watched BE WITH my daughter. We talked about it (she talked at 10 months!) before that the classical music put her to sleep.... Do I want my money back? Nope. I think that parents are crazy with this crap that their kid HAS to be smarter than yours crap....
