Thrifty Thursday - Home Energy Audits
This week for my Thrifty Thursday post, I'm talking about saving money with a home energy audit.
Many electric companies will do a home energy audit every few years for free - all you have to do is ASK! What they will do is come into your home, and check for areas that could be worked on - for instance, they may point out that changing your light bulbs to a different wattage will help you save money, or show you where there are drafts located in your home. They may be able to show you that upgrading a certain appliance will actually save you money over the course of time.
If you don't want someone coming over to your home, check with your energy provider's website - many have online calculators and scenarios, as well as checklists, that can give you ideas as to how to save money on energy, and if your home is as energy efficient as you think it is!
