Review & Giveaway: Softlips Lip Balm

Lip glosses are like candy to me. Well, at least I stash them like I do my chocolate - here, there and everywhere. I can't stand lipstick - frankly, I end up looking like a bloated dead body when I do wear it (LOL!), so maybe it's a good thing! - but lip glosses, I adore! I love having a variety of different "flavors" that make my lips soft.


I received received some of the Softlips Lip Balm with SPF 20 in their new Special Edition Winter Flavors, and some of the Softlips PURE lip balms. It was like Christmas opening this package, let me tell you!


The Softlips Limited Edition winter Flavors Lip Balm come in Winter Mint, Sugar Cookie, Sugar & Spice, and Sugar Plum Berry. These came two to a "card" with every day flavors such as Cherry and Vanilla and retail for $3.99. They also contain an SPF of 20. While getting some sun is great for Vitamin D consumption, the last thing you want to do is have your lips burnt, either from the sun, or even the wind. Ouch! I think we all are used to using SPF on our bodies, but we forget our head, top of our ears, and our lips.


The Softlips PURE Lip Balm is actually 100% natural and certified by the USDA to be organic. It contains no animal by-products, and is not tested on animals. Available on one per card (retail $2.99), you can choose from pomegranate, honeydew, peppermint, acai berry, papaya, and chai tea "flavors". They are free of parabens, pesticides, and harsh chemicals.

I always am happy to see a product not tested on animals - in fact, I think it should be law that products are never tested on animals, so I definitely give PURE two thumbs up at that. I'd love to see it listed as completely vegan, however - that would rock! Both the PURE and the Limited Edition Winter Flavors went on easily, and didn't feel stiff like some of the brands can. I like this longer, thinner tube - it's a little sexier coming out of your pocket ;) plus it just makes it a little more make-up like and less boring medicinal lip balm. You don't have the feeling of being embarrassed if you pull it out of your purse on a night out on the town, I guess is what I am trying to say. ;)

As far as "flavors" go, my favorite was the Sugar Cookie from the Limited Edition sets.

They are inexpensive and come in a variety of "flavors" so there's one for just about everyone. They don't leave a color on your lips, so even young girls can have their own "make-up".
