This Is Getting Absolutely Ridiculous

I about had a heart attack when I looked at the total on my electric bill. Now remember, our furnace doesn't work so our main source of heat is wood. I have a small radiator heated that I use in the bedroom since otherwise it turns into a freezer, and that hasn't been any higher than last month. I can account for some of the extra use, after all I did use the oven a lot and had a few extra loads of laundry. So how did we jump $20 on top of that?

Oh right, they raised the electric rates AGAIN. So Puget Sound Energy can waste what they charge us by taking all those people driving up and down the road to fix one little line, remember that one last month?

You know if Washington State had more sunlight, I'd totally turn this place into solar and say BYE BYE to the electricity companies. No wonder so many folks can't pay their bills!

Recession, smession. The problem isn't the economy itself: it's the constant WASTE that's done in this country, from everything to bureaucracies, to throwing away so much food because so many people don't know how to shop properly. There was an article on Yahoo about apple orchards in New York just letting their fruit rot on the trees - this with so many people who can't even afford fresh fruit. Fine, I get that it costs the farmers money to pick it - well then have people sign a waiver, and let them in to pick it for free - it's a win-win situation then.

*pounds head against wall* That's it. We need SAHM's who know how to manage on one income to take over businesses and other things in this country and run it like she does her household. I'm rolling up my sleeves, and going in with a kid on my hip and two corgis at my feet. Storm for Governor*! Will you vote for me? ;)

*I'm a member of the Independent Moms Who Know How To Shop party. snicker, snicker, snort, snort.

Same here, it just keeps getting higher and higher...and we really try hard to conserve.
The sun almost never shines here, so solar is out, but I read about a small backyard wind generator that works even in 2 mph wind, sounds good but it's $4,500 at True value.
