Dear Puget Sound Clean Air Agency,
You and your Stage 2 Burn Ban can go South.
I hear constantly about environmental issues in this state, and yet, this state is the most littered I have ever lived in - and I've lived in 6 states and 2 countries. You go on and on about environmental this, and forced recycling this - yet I cannot even recycle half of what I want to recycle, because you're not making enough money off it. Excuse me? More than half of my trash would no longer be dumped into a landfill, but I guess you make more money that way.
Which leads me to point out: it's not an environmental issue, it's a money making issue. You don't care about the environment, you care about your bottom line and your bank account. So please, don't sit there and spew out this environmental line when we all know it isn't true.
The fact is, you make more tax money via the electric company than you do when folks like me use free wood to keep our home warm. You know very well that many folks cannot even pay their electric bill this winter, and are struggling to chop wood to stay warm. Folks like my family, who use wood - a sustainable, renewable resource - to keep our homes warm.
Shame on you, Puget Sound Clean Air Agency. If you want to ban wood stoves, go ban all those Hummers and large gas guzzling pick up trucks that are burning gas like crazy first.
But we all know, you make money off the gas taxes, so you won't bother with that, will you?
And don't even get me started on all the chemicals being leached into the air.
