Thrifty Thursday - Holiday Freezer Cooking

This week for my Thrifty Thursday post, I'm talking about freezer cooking during the holidays.

This is the time of year when we are running around for lots of get-togethers and last minute shopping. We're often too tired when we come home to cook a meal from scratch, so we're faced with picking up fast food on the way home, ordering out and spending money we don't have to, or spending double on convenience foods from the freezer or deli.

Pull out all those plastic containers and get to work, before the craziness is really here! Make several dishes that easily freeze able, or at least cook and prepare the meats ahead of time so all you have to do is thaw and reheat. Peppers are easily chopped and frozen in portioned zip lock baggies, ground beef is easily seasoned for taco night. Many pasta dishes can be cooked and frozen so all you have to do is toss them in the oven when you come home from shopping. Lots of pizza crusts can be made and frozen too!

Prepare ahead from scratch at a fraction of the cost of eating out!

Great advice... I'm searching out those freezer boxes right now!

I know it's all a good thing and makes sense, but I have a weird issue with leftovers and no matter how much I tell myself that these are not "technically" left overs, I could have an entire freezer full of stuff that I will never want to eat! How weird is that??

That is a good idea.It gets expensive with the shopping and in between some fast food. You have a lot of great ideas.
