Giveaway: petcentric

I think it's fairly obvious we're animal lovers over here. ;) I don't think I've ever met a cat I didn't love, and I love dogs too, even if I love corgis the most, I love all dogs. (I just love corgis more! LOL) I mean, who couldn't resist the corgi cuteness?

And who couldn't love this posse of cats:

Look at how big our little Mystery has gotten! Sniff, sniff! No more tiny kitten! (I know, I'm missing a few pets in the photos, but I don't want to overhwlem the non-pet folks who might be reading this, lol)

Purina recently contacted me about their petcentric website, and are offering a giveaway, so read on! But first, I'd like to tell you about something awesome Purina is doing:

The Purina ONE Tour For Heroes is helping pets in need from coast to coast. From February 3 - 26, 2010, Purina ONE brand Pet Food is traveling across the country, stopping at local animal shelters to help pets in need with temporary food banks and adoption events.

If you live near one of the tour stops listed, please come by and visit! If not, you can still help out. Just visit MarthaStewart.com/pet-adoption between January 15 and March 31, 2010, find an adoptable pet using our search tool, and click to share that pet’s profile with your Facebook friends. Each time you do, Purina ONE will donate $1 worth of pet food to food banks across the country to help feed pets in need (up to $50,000 worth of pet food). You’ll be doing your part to publicize these animals’ urgent need to find a loving home, and help keep other needy pets in their homes and out of a shelter.

I know you guys will help out, and go click to donate that $1, right? The pets need our help in this economy, bad, and it just takes a few moments of your time! (and who knows, maybe another furry friend will end up in your home because of it?)

Now to get back to the nifty petcentric website, they have all sorts of great stuff over there. If you haven't stopped by yet, you should! Even if you don't feed your pets one of the Purina brands, they have pet blogs, games to play, links to great pet resources and even pet friendly places to take your furkids, photo contests, and much, much more!

And if you're over on Facebook, you can fan petcentric, and/or if you do Twitter, they're over there too!

(I don't mean to sound completely gushy mushy in this post, but I love it when companies help shelter pets, I can't help it!)

So you're ready for the great giveaway they're offering, right? ;) Here you go...

Win it! Two lucky readers will be winning an Everyday with Rachel Ray Faves - Every Day with Rachael Ray tote bag filled with pet-friendly products that have been featured in the pages of Every Day with Rachael Ray Magazine. The approximate retail value (ARV) of each prize pack is around $40, and should feature dog and cat friendly items.

To enter, visit petcentric, and tell me your favorite pet related story from the Giving Back area.

I'll give you a second entry if you tell us all about the pets in your life who would be getting this prize pack!

As always, if you have completed the first entry above, you can also receive extra entries for:

-Subscribing to my feed OR following my blog
-Blogging about this giveaway with a link back
-Tweeting about this giveaway (leave the link or @psychotichouse me)

That's up to five (5) possible entries! Giveaway ends February 20th, 2010 at 11:59 PST. US Only, sorry. :( Please leave your email address in your comment, or have it available in your profile so I can contact you if you've won. Winners drawn via Random.org.

I didn't receive anything for this post, but two winners will receive a prize pack as described in the above post.

My favorite 'Giving Back' story is the "Adopt A Hero" story. Who knew there was an animal blood bank? I mean, I guess it should stand to reason that they would need one, I just never knew about it.

We recently adopted 2 kitties from a local shelter. Irish is our little diva. She loves attention, but she'll let you know in no uncertain terms when she's done. Maddux is our little guy who has been battling just about everything who could possibly have caught from the shelter. He is still on quarantine and we are hoping he will be off of it soon.

It's hard to pick just one because I love all of them. However, "How Humane Societies and Animal Shelters Are Helping Black Dogs and Cats Get Adopted" is the one I choose. Having two black dogs, I know the statistics for black dog adoptions are very low. It's sad.

my furbaby (who's only 20 lbs) could really use a nice gift after being attacked by a big dog (50 lbs) recently which left her having to get front bottom teeth removed along with a root canal on one of her canine teeth -- the big dog grabbed ahold of her bottom jaw and dislocated/fractured it as well as pierced her neck... long story short though, she's come through it alright with antibiotics and rest even if still a bit scared -- it's a miracle she's still with us!
