Review & Giveaway: Ecostore USA

The folks over at EcoStore USA recently approached me about doing a review of their products and hosting a giveaway. I secretly did a little dance, because I had tried to win a gift certificate to their store from several blogs with no luck. (I'm just not as lucky at this winning thing as so many of you are!)

Ecostore USA specializes in plant based household cleaning products and soaps. All of their items are non toxic! The original founder more than 15 years ago was a stay at home dad who lived in an eco-village - how nifty is that?

I was able to review the Laundry Liquid (I know, it's laundry central here!) and the Pet Ear Wash.

The Ecostore USA Laundry Liquid is plant based and super concentrated, and retails for $11.00. It's made with 100% Certified Organic Eucalyptus oil, and has a nice, calming scent when you open the bottle! The scent really makes for a more pleasant laundry experience. ;) It's not overwhelming, but very nice. I tried this out on a load of my laundry - and I was very trusting, because in that load was some clothes I had picked up from the thrift store for me! I knew I didn't have anything to worry about. While my load was not overly soiled, obviously, the product didn't have to work that hard, everything came out looking clean. You can actually use a bit of it directly on stains if needed. It's also safe for both top loaders, and HE washers - though as you probably know, I have an ancient old school washer.

The Laundry Liquid does recommend that you wash in warm water, something I don't usually do with my clothes. For the purpose of this review, I did use warm water, but I'll switch back to my usual cold next load - I think this product will do just fine! Also, I do have a small hint - you don't need a lot of this liquid, but there's no measure for you to use. If you are like me, and awful at measuring things (there's another reason why I don't like to bake that much lol), get yourself a cheap or old tablespoon so you can measure the Laundry Liquid out and not waste the product! It is quite obviously more expensive than some conventional laundry detergents, but it is good quality, and of course, a greener choice. If you do a lot of laundry, price wise, you may decide on other options, but from an environmental standpoint - this is a good choice.

The Ecostore Herbal All Natural Ear Wash is also chemical free, just like all of Ecostore's products, and retails for $8.00. It's made for sensitive ears, so if you have a pet prone to ear infections, you can try this. While the ear wash does tell you that you can squirt it directly in your pet's ear, I'd like to tell you not too unless you have to. The scent is strong due to the Lavender Alcohol, and most pet's sense of smell is much stronger than ours - the smell can be overwhelming to them, even though it smells wonderful to us! Captain was a little startled when I tried that the first time, and now I just use it on a cottonball. It's actually easier that way - you're doing both motions at the same time, which is great if you have a squirmer! Price wise, it's on par with almost all brands of ear wash for pets - so I'm sure you'd rather pick something without dangerous nasty chemicals for your pets, right? :)

If you live in the Midwest and have Meijer nearby - you're lucky, because you can now purchase Ecostore's products there! For the rest of us in the US, they do have free shipping on all orders over $25!

For those on Twitter, you can follow Ecostore over there, or you Facebook addicts can fan them there too!

Win it! One lucky reader will win a $25 gift certificate to spend on anything they wish from Ecostore USA! I do have one thing before we go any further: A) if you've won a gift certificate to Ecostore from another blog, you can't win again. Sorry! :( They want to share the joy with as many folks as possible. :) So to enter, visit EcoStore and tell me what you'll be spending that gift certificate on if you win!

I'll give you a second entry if you visit Ecostore's blog and sign up for their No Nasty Chemicals newsletter on the right side of the page. They promise they won't send you a million emails, but you'll get a sale update here and there, about once a month.

As always, if you have completed the first entry above, you can also receive extra entries for:

-Subscribing to my feed OR following my blog
-Blogging about this giveaway with a link back
-Tweeting about this giveaway (leave the link or @psychotichouse me)

That's up to five (5) possible entries! Giveaway ends February 27th, 2010 at 11:59 PST. US Only, sorry. :( Please leave your email address in your comment, or have it available in your profile so I can contact you if you've won. Winners drawn via Random.org.

I received the two products stated up above to try out and review, and one reader will win a $25 gift certificate from Ecostore.
