Yeah... that fell apart quickly. LOL
I always look for deals on packaged snacks and weigh the costs between making my own vs packaged. I mentioned about the whole shelf stable deal in a past post last week, and of course, that's a big part now too. There's a balance in the whole snacking world here. ;)
I was actually kind of amused to see in an email from Popsicle that "nearly 80% of moms admit to breaking into their children’s arsenal of snacks and desserts."
Twinkie? What Twinkie? (DH is kind of like the clearing house... everyone hands over food to him that they don't want. He ended up with a box of Twinkies last week that someone gave him, lol) I haven't had a Twinkie in oh, 20 years? I think? until I couldn't resist that box... it called my name... Storm.... EAT ME! Evil Twinkies, I tell you, all those calories! LOL (Actually, in all fairness, they are only 150 calories each, and I'm a firm believer that you can eat what you want in moderation)

So when I was asked if I wanted to review Popsicle frozen snacks since they have sugar free varieties, and I figured why not? For the record, I don't think I've had a Popsicle since *thinks* Oh gosh, I think Summer Bible School when I was a kid? (OK, now I feel OLD LOL) It never even entered my mind that Popsicles could be a healthy snack for my daughter, especially in the Summer months. (Remember the 110 degrees here? Yeah, I'm hoping it's not a repeat business this coming Summer)
I headed off into the frozen treats aisle - see, we usually stop at just the ice cream pints - and I have to tell you, I was totally AMAZED at how many different varieties there are from the Popsicle brand. A little voice even popped up OWA. Yes, there's even Dora Popsicles, that I have to say are cute, they are shaped like stars, waves, etc. Who needs the ice cream truck? Seriously! Tropical Fruit, Fudgsicles, Firecrackers, Pop Ups with low calories! The Popsicles we picked up were 60 calories for 2 (Dora) and 45 calories for 1 of the Grape, Orange, and Cherry assortment! And the prices were pretty reasonable too - $3.49 for 24 count box, regular price.

Granted, if you pick up the non Sugar free Popsicles, you still have to watch the sugar content, and of course, there's coloring in these treats, but overall, Popsicle still does make a fun low calorie treat, not only for kids, but for us Moms too. I didn't feel guilty having a Grape Popsicle as my lunch today - LOL. They were a sweet treat on a decently sunny day here! (I'll make something more filling later) Oh, and don't forget a little messy with the younger kids. (but anything is messy when you're a toddler!)
Next trip to the store, I'm definitely picking up the Low Fat Fudgsicle Triple Chocolate bars, because they are chocolate-y goodness at just 60 calories each pop! How can you feel guilty about a treat with that low calories? (and how can you resist snacking on them? Poor kids, they'll come home from school wanting a treat and Moms will have eaten them all LOL) And there are Dark Chocolate ones in that box - heaven!
Plus, did you know they now have Klondikes in 100 calorie sandwiches? DH is just waiting for me to make room in the freezer so we can get some, lol. I love Klondikes! (I think I am drooling now, lol)
Win it! The folks over at Popsicle are letting me give away 1 coupon for a free box of Popsicles of their choice (up to $4.00 value, and just so you know - these expire at the end of March, so grab the box and put away for warmer months if you want to wait, just don't forget the coupon!) to FIVE readers! To enter, check out Popsicle's website and tell me which variety you'd choose - for yourself, or your kids lol - with your coupon.
As always, if you have completed the first entry above, you can also receive extra entries for:

Calorie contents were found on product boxes and the Popsicle website. Five readers, chosen by random.org, will win free product coupons from Popsicle.

it would totally be for myself, I admit it. I would get the Firecracker popsicles as though are always a favorite, especially after leaving the beach during the summer.
The box with the Root Beer, Banana, and Lemon Lime Flavors would be our Popsicle pick as a family. If I was buying just for
me it would be something in the chocolate category, but that wouldn't be really fair to everyone else here.
