DVD Review: Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey

My family and I recently received a copy of Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey on DVD to review.

Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey is the animated sequel to the first Curious George movie. The Man With The Yellow Hat and Curious George are trying to reunite Kayla, a homesick elephant who they meet at the Magic Circus Show, with her family. As with the Curious George books, there is plenty of trouble to get into... and back out of. They are traveling cross country, in and out of trains, and trucks, and even by foot on this journey, only be to caught for elephant napping, and brought back to New York! (oh, no!) You'll have to watch the movie to find out the ending. ;)

Did I mention Tim Curry is the voice of Piccadilly in this movie? We're big Tim Curry fans over here, so we were excited that he was a part of it. There's also all sorts of big names involved too, including Matt Lauer, Jamie Kennedy, Jerry Lewis.

I love that the animation is updated just enough, while staying very true to the drawings in the books. I loved Curious George as a little girl, so I was thrilled to add this full length movie to my daughter's collection! (Perfect timing too, it arrived on a rainy day that DH was working a double - it helped waste an afternoon away, even if her attention span didn't last the entire movie, mine sure did!)

The DVD contains several bonus features, including two brand new episodes from the all new TV season - something I really appreciate since we don't have TV signals here. It also contains a little game, and you can print out some activity sheets with it.

Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey will be available on DVD tomorrow, March 2nd, 2010! It's rated G, and Widescreen edition. (over the age of 5-6 may get a little bored) It does have English SDH, French, and Spanish subtitles available. The total running time is 81 minutes. The suggested retail price is $19.99, but as of this posting, Amazon has it available on pre-order for just $12.99.

I received a copy of this DVD so I could write my opinion of it. Link(s) included are for your convenience - they are not referral links.
