DVD Review & Giveaway: Charlie and Lola Volume Ten: I Can't Stop Hiccuping

My family and I recently received the new animated DVD Charlie and Lola Volume Ten: I Can't Stop Hiccuping to review.

If you are unfamiliar with the Charlie and Lola series, it is produced by the BBC and aired on Playhouse Disney. It features brother and sister, Charlie and Lola, and is based on a series of children's books by Lauren Child. Lola is the little sister with a huge imagination, and Charlie is more down to earth, and very patient with Lola. The TV animation is very close to the silly drawing of the books, if you are familiar with any of them. (Check out I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato if you'd like to get introduced to the books via the library - it's a hoot!)

Charlie and Lola Volume Ten: I Can't Stop Hiccuping features nine episodes, including "I Can't Stop Hiccuping", "I Am Completely Hearing And Also Listening", "Our Shop Sells Everything", "I've Got Nobody To Play With", "Thunder Completely Does Not Scare Me", "I Really Absolutely Must Have Glasses", "It Is Very Special And Extremely Ancient", "But Marv Is Absolutely Charlie's Best Friend", and "I am Inventing A Usefulish Invention".

I enjoy the stories on the show as Mom - it doesn't tire me out or grate on my nerves as some shows can. And, I totally love the little accents of the characters. And the fact that Charlie and Lola get along so well.

Because you know, I can see a smack down if one ever becomes two around here.

Charlie and Lola Volume Ten: I Can't Stop Hiccuping was released on March 9th, 2010. It runs 99 minutes long (just about 11 minutes per episode), and is widescreen edition. It's not rated, but perfect for the preschool ages 2 to 4 set. Older kids will be bored, fast. The suggested retail price is $14.98, but as of this posting, Amazon has it for $11.99. (As always, take shipping costs into consideration when shopping online)

Win it! One lucky reader will win their own copy of Charlie and Lola Volume Ten: I Can't Stop Hiccuping on DVD! To enter, tell me your child's favorite show. Are they Charlie and Lola fans?

As always, if you have completed the first entry above, you can also receive extra entries for:

OMG I have to admit I (yes, ME) I am the biggest Charlie and Lola fan! I force (ahem) ask my kids to watch it with me all the time! They like it, even laugh at it and they think that Lola's imagination is terrific, but it's me who's the big dork and gets all excited when I see new episodes or DVDs released. I love it when Lola dresses up, she's the bomb!

:)

My four year old loves Charlie and Lola so much that when he got a couple of frogs for his birthday, he actually named them Charlie and Lola. I think they're adorable.
Thanks for the giveaway.

My youngest's favorite right now is Chuggington -- I think that's what it's called. He misses seeing Charlie and Lola -- they aren't on very much anymore.

I've heard of Charlie and Lola but have never seen the show. Having six kids, there's different favorites in the house. Wizards of Waverly Place is one that all the kids like. Thanks.

We don't get Playhouse Disney so my kids have never seen this program. But right now (and it changes periodically) everything is Thomas the Train. My kids would love getting to know Charlie and Lola.

Charlie and Lola are favorites. Charlie is the ideal brother, and the episode when Lola needed new shoes was delightful.
