Thrifty Thursday - Shop Your Fridge To Save!

This week for my Thrifty Thursday post, we're talking about a simple way to help cut grocery costs down without worrying about coupons!

If you open your fridge and cabinets, chances are you have a lot of food, even if it doesn't seem like it. The problem is, a lot of us get stuck in the same recipe rut - we use the same dozen or so recipes over and over again. This makes it seem like we need to shop for more food, when really, we have the ingredients for a new recipe already in our home!

Sites such as Kraft's recipe corner will allow you to plug in three items you have on hand, and what kind of dish you are wanting to make. It will then give you several recipes you can make with those ingredients, and of course, several other ingredients. For instance, when I typed in ground beef, pasta, and cheese, it brought up 106 recipes to choose from. Don't feel afraid to substitute ingredients in those recipes! I do it all the time!

Use this to finish off things hiding in the freezer, or to help finish off those leftover veggies from last night's meals! You'll save money not making a run to the grocery store, and you won't waste what you already have!

This is a great idea- I know I'll open up the fridge and just stare at the same stuff and think "there's nothing for dinner" over and over. Even though I KNOW I have food. I'm going to try their site and if I come up with something good, I'll blog the recipe, thanks for posting it!

I didn't know there was such a site. I will be checking it out, we have so many random cans that I just don't know what to do with!
