Have You Cut The Cord?
To your cable, that is. I just saw this article over on Yahooo! about how 800,000 people had cut their cable by the end of 2009.
Obviously, my household is one of them. We miss cable sometimes, but to be honest, I can't see myself paying $100 a month for cable and internet anymore - even though there are moments I am tempted. (I really do miss the Food Network, lol)
I go through every couple of weeks and add movies and TV shows to our library wishlist online - we've gotten some great Discovery channel shows recently, as well as some TV shows like Chuck and Castle. And it's easy to watch so much online - we even used the PS3 to watch videos from YouTube last night as our entertainment. Lost? No problem - we just visit ABC. So many different shows are available online that we just hop onto their websites and check them out. In between those ways, and our ever expanding DVD collection (careful, we buy a lot used for $1-5, don't fall into the trap of cutting cable only to spend as much on DVDs!)
So have you cut the cord too? Do you think Cable is becoming an overpriced dinosaur?

We went without cable for about a year because we just couldn't afford it and then by the time we could, we didn't care enough. But eventually we decided we wanted it back and now we're paying about $75 a month for it, which I hate. But we have a DVR, which I LOVE.
If we ever ran on hard times, cable would be the first to go. That being said, my kids love the channel formerly known as Noggin (now Nick Jr.) and we love that we can record any show and watch it whenever we want. We did watch a lot of tv on the internet before, but it can be a hassle to find what we want.
In conclusion, been there, would do it again, but enjoying it while we have it :D
I would love this with getting up the car hair long hairs are beatiful but they have too much fur.

I can't even imagine paying for cable!. We were TV free for a long time and now the internet has lured us back. That's the other side of the coin.
It is very expensive, but I can't imagine life w/out it...
I watch too many reality shows! LOL!
Never had it. Don't miss it. Only vaguely aware of what's on cable. Very rarely see mention of a show that looks interesting. But, the very abundant lifestyle we enjoy as Americans affords us way more stimulation than we could ever, ever partake of. The lack of cable is easily replaced by many other activities. As for movies, we mostly watch movies (and occasionally TV series) on DVD from the library. That's enough for me. Once my son left for college, I thought, I wish I could turn back the clock and relive all the time I spent with him. It went by way too quickly. All you moms out there lucky enough to still have kids at home, turn off the screens and look at your kids instead. They're much more entertaining.
I gave up Directv 2 years ago July. Yes, I remember it exactly! Yes, I miss it very much, being that I am not working. I especially miss it when I hear that some of my favorite series are starting new seasons. It's just not in the budget, especially since my partner left me. I am so glad I didn't listen to her when she wanted to get it back. I would have been locked into a 2 year contract with no way to pay it.
On one hand I think that our bill is outrageous and that I would have more free time. Then on the other I can't imagine being without it. I know for sure my husband would freak if I cut it off. :D
