I Will Always...
One of my favorite bloggers and Etsy owners, Paige over at Lenox Knits (go check out her blog - she's running a great contest right now!), left a comment on the Bat Shoes I've been drooling over, and it made me remember something from when I was 12.
We had been taking a mini cruise up on the Great Lakes I think, and we stopped in this little touristy shop. Of all the things I managed to find (remember folks, we're talking back in the 80's), it was this dragon claw ring with a wishing ball. I was SO excited.
As I was paying for it, the lady who I am going to guess now must have been in her 40s or 50s, commented on how much she loved my blue nails. From what I remember, I proceeded to tell her what brand it was and where I had found it (LOL me and my make up!) She just laughed and said she was too old to wear blue nail polish.
I looked at her confidently and said I will always wear blue nail polish.
Fast forward 20 years, and OK, today they are silver, but I still wear blue nail polish. In fact, outside of being married and a SAHM, I haven't changed a bit since I was 12. I still wear the exact same style of clothes, I even still wear much of the jewelry I bought over 20 years ago. I have band t-shirts from back then still carefully hanging around (and nowadays, I am very thankful for the fact that wearing big t-shirts back then was in style! LOL), some of which I still wear from time to time.
Now, I think my 12 year old self might be more than a little disturbed at the whole husband and kid thing, but I did do many of the things I expected my adult self to do - I traveled the world, went to a lot of great concerts, and owned my own business. OK, so I'm messed up being a famous fashion designer. Who knows, maybe as I start helping out for school plays and dance recitals I might do that one! ;) My 12 year old self can be proud.
How about you? Would your 12 year old self be proud?

I think my 12 year old self would be very shocked that I have become a married SAHM mom since 'we' were going to be childless career women who needed NO man! Hahaha
