National Kids and Pet Day 2010 (Chicken Soup Giveaway!)

Did you know that today, April 26th is National Kids and Pet Day? It's a great day to grab the kids and do something fun with your pets - maybe take the dogs to the local dog park if you have one nearby, or pick up a new toy to play with your cat.

Not that we need any excuse to do things with our pets around here. We are blessed that most of our pets are very patient with the munchkin - even the Grumpy Princess isn't grumpy with "her" munchkin. lol (She loves kids so much, she lets all of them congregate around her at the park) Gratuitous corgi shot:

You know I can't write a post about a pet holiday without including at least one photo. ;) I'd like to challenge you to do something today with your kiddo(s) and pet(s). DH has to work, so we won't be able to hit up Bandix Dog Park ourself, but they'll get a raincheck and a new boney each to play with. And the kitties will be feasting on shrimp!

Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul is excited to help let you know about today. They make both cat and dog food, and you can find it at your local pet store or boutique. (Local folks: both Del's Feed Store and Pet Town here in Port Orchard sell it - we shop at both, so I can recommend both places to stop by if you haven't already.)

I've mentioned on here several times that I've fed Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul to several of our corgis in the past. I have a good opinion of this brand - if you are going to feed your dog dry kibble, this is one that is worth exploring. Of course, it is more pricey than grocery store brands, but not by a huge amount.

Win it! Chicken Soup For the Pet Lovers Soul has generously offered to give one of my readers a $20 gift certificate to Care-A-Lot. Care-A-Lot carries all sorts of pet goodies for you to spoil your furry friends with!Petco - I've just been informed that the sponsors are changing it to Petco. (How about a shopping trip with your furry friend?) To enter, tell me about your furry friends, and if you're familiar with Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul.

As always, if you have completed the first entry above, you can also receive extra entries for:

-Subscribing to my feed OR following my blog
-Blogging about this giveaway with a link back
-Tweeting about this giveaway (leave the link or include @psychotichouse)

That's up to four (4) possible entries! Giveaway ends May 8th, 2010 at 11:59 PST. US Only, sorry. :( Please leave your email address in your comment, or have it available in your profile so I can contact you if you've won. Winners drawn via Random.org.

I'm receiving a welcome kit as part of the Chicken Soup blogging network. One reader will win the prize above as fulfilled by the sponsor.

My two Alaskan Malmutes love to play hide the treats game. I hide small treats around the house and they have to find them. They know when I say go outside and hide your eyes that I will be hiding treats. They get so excited. We will be playing today.

I love the Chicken Soup books and I have heard of the Pet Lovers Soul book.

We have two dogs and two fish. We also took in a stray cat about 4 years ago and now we have 8 adult cats and 7 new kittens (we live on 4 acres so they have plenty of room!). We love our animals and call them our fur-children. I have four human kids and I think its great for kids to grow up with animals!

Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul is new to me, but I'm interested in trying it for my two beloved cats: gentle-as-a-lamb Dibbles and wild, happy-hearted Pippa.

We have 1 rescued Malamute, that weighed 30 pounds when we got her. In 5 months she has put on 40 pounds and grown at least 5 inches. We have 3 rescued siamese that were from the same litter, when they were 1 and a half years old. One was so abused, it took me almost 2 years to get her to willingly come to me to be petted. I have a 17 year old gray and white tabby cat. I love their foods. My oldest cat looks like she did when she was young.

I have a lot of pets. I don't want to say I have a favorite though, and hurt anyone's feelings!
Right now I have my lion cat curled up at the foot of my bed with me. He is so funny because he refuses to sit on my lap. I think it's because he is way too independent for that, lol. He doesn't want me cramping his style!
