If you are a Pittsburgh Penguins fan, the Official Pittsburgh Penguins Mobile app is now available for free download on Android phones as well as for the iPhone/iPod Touch! Look for "Pittsburgh Penguins Mobile" in the Android Market on your Droid or in the iTunes store for your iPhone or iPod Touch.
If you have a Twilight or vampire loving Mom to buy for, and she does drink alcohol, Vampire Vineyards has a pretty nifty deal going on - you can get a mix or match case (12 bottles) for just $119.95 with $5 shipping. I tried the merlot years ago, and I remember it being pretty good (of course, they could have changed since then) I know they don't ship to all states, so if it is something you are interested in, check out their website. I'm going to guess they must be doing good business these days with the whole vampire craze, LOL. If you're not wanting that many bottles, but you want a really unique gift, check out the Vampire in an Antique Suitcase giftset - it almost makes me wish I still drank! LOL
CBS Films and Kid Basix are now giving you the chance to win a private screening of The Back-up Plan staring Jennifer Lopez for you and 50 friends right in your hometown! There are a couple of other prizes, including $100 worth of movie tickets and a basket of Kid Basix products worth $225. (I'll take those movie tickets!) If lightning should strike and I win the screening, I'd let y'all know on the blog and let you RSVP if you'd want to come or not (I know a lot of you aren't local, but for those who are) This ends April 18th, so hurry to enter!
And those who also need a new washer and dryer (I can't be the only one?) I found a great contest from Gerber kidswear - you could win a Whirlpool Cabrio Washer & Dryer, a one year supply of laundry products, and Gerber Apparel. Contest ends April 30th, so hurry on over to enter. Good luck! :)
Carole King and James Taylor are reuniting for the Troubadour Reunion Tour. I do realize this isn't the music of choice for a lot of you, but for those who are - All VIP Stage Seat Packages benefit established charities, including the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Alliance for the Wild Rockies, which Ms. King and Mr. Taylor have long championed--plus more than 90 additional national and local charitable organizations. The VIP Stage Seat Packages are estimated to raise over $1 million for charity and are available for 37 of the Troubadour Reunion North American concerts. You get access to the sound check too with your package - I know we are geeky music lovers over here, but we always enjoy getting to hear/see sound checks when we go to concerts. You can kind of see a different side of musicians - they are more laid back. For fans here in the Seattle area, they will be hitting Key Arena on May 9th - tickets are on sale now.
The Perfect Game hits theaters tomorrow. Here's the official storyline:
Living amidst the gritty poverty of 1957 Monterrey, Mexico, a rag–tag group of boys from the wrong side of the tracks discovers the joy of sandlot baseball under the guidance of Cesar, an aspiring Major League Coach thwarted by discrimination. Armed with the dream of playing a real Little League game, the young players defy a total lack of resources, disapproving parents, and widespread prejudice to score their first Little League victory and find themselves at the beginning of a once-in-a-lifetime journey. Relying on their faith, a warm-hearted priest and their love of the game, the nine players and their coach embark on an incredible, record-breaking winning streak that leads them across the border to America, and all the way to the 1957 Little League World Series where a miracle will cement their place in history and change their lives forever.
I'm looking forward to when it hits DVD so I can see it - it has Cheech Martin and Lost fans will recognize the name Emilie de Ravin (claire), who is also in it. You can check out the page on Facebook, too. (Man, everybody and everything is on Facebook these days, LOL)
