Thrifty Thursday - Brighten Your Home

This week for my Thrifty Thursday post, I'd like to talk about a couple of thrifty ways to do a little home improvement and brighten up areas of your home.

Instead of replacing ugly cabinets which can cost more than most people like to think about, consider sanding them or simply repainting them a pretty color. Try replacing the knobs and handles, and watch them transform.

Repainting any room with a vibrant color can make all the difference, and is a cheap way to do a home improvement fix. Even just moving furniture around can make a difference too, and the cost is FREE!

Heading over to the bathroom, a new shower head, fresh paint, and a new shower curtain can make you feel like you're in a new bathroom. If parts of your bathroom are starting to look retro without the fun of retro, check out the clearance section of many home improvement stores. You might score an open box deal on a new pedestal sink, vanity, or even a new toilet that will brighten your bathroom up.

Those home improvement clearance areas can lead to a wealth of lighting clearances, too. Check for new ceiling lamps to change things up on your ceiling. A fresh bright white paint on your ceiling can help light bounce off, as well as making the dinginess of time go away.

Thanks for the great ideas! I really like the idea about sanding and re-painting the kitchen cabinets, and about replacing the bathroom shower curtain.
