Book Review: Dad's Bible: The Father's Plan, Notes by Robert Wolgemuth

I don't usually review Bibles on my blog, because I know many of my readers come from all walks of life and faith. However, with Father's Day on the horizon, I thought some of my Christian readers might like to know about this Blessed gift for the dad in their life.

I recently received the Dad's Bible: The Father's Plan with Notes by Robert Wolgemuth to review. The Dad's Bible is a New Century Version (NCV) Bible. I've always believed that Bibles are meant to be special gifts, given by a loved one, and perhaps even heirloom quality to be passed from generation to generation. Like me, my daddy is an avid thrifter and garage saler, and his addiction is books. He would always rescue Bibles he would find - some he would keep, some he would pass along to others. I always found it rather sad though, that many of the bibles he found were not only scribbled with notes from the owner, talking about favorite sermons and verses, but many even had family notes about births and deaths. How could one part with such a wonderful family item, even if one did not believe?

Dad's Bible: The Father's Plan of course, is your usual NCV Bible, but it also contains notes and insights written by Robert Wolgemuth, intended for reflection on verses and chapters. There are personal anecdotes mentioning moments in his life of being a father, and things he has learned along the way. It's meant to help build not only your faith, but help you build your child(ren)'s faith as they grow as well.

Dad's Bible: The Father's Plan has a vintage kind of look to the paper inside, almost as though it had already been handed down from Dad to Dad. It is nicely bound.

If you are looking for a religious gift for a new Dad, or even any Dad in your life, Dad's Bible: The Father's Plan would make a special gift. Look at it as a special companion to other Bibles in your family, not as a replacement. The suggested retail price is $29.99 - and please support your favorite Christian bookstore when purchasing a Bible (or any religious gift) for your family. :)

I received a copy in order to write a review.
