Let me be honest and begin by saying I am not in any way a Michael Bolton fan. Even though my musical taste can be rather varied, this is where I draw the line. I would seriously rather claw my own eyes out. However, since I know there are fans out there and I wanted to be fair, say hello to my guest blogging "helper" to review this - my mommy!
After 3 decades of singing, it is surprising to hear once again new tunes from Michael Bolton but yes, he did it again. In co-operation with people like Lady Gaga however, I felt this was not the best of his work. Maybe I missed something but even after turning off the bass and the sub woofer I still found the drummer overpowering the singer's voice. One World One Love just did not do it for me. "Survivor" was probably the only hit on the CD I would listen to again. Both my husband and I listened to it and cringed.
Ouch. I am assuming my parents are probably the sort of crowd Mr. Bolton was aiming for - it certainly isn't my crowd, though I suppose Lady Gaga might appeal to the younger crowd - and it sounds like he bombed. The Psychotic Housewife's verdict: listen to One World, One Love clips online before spending the money on the CD. If you'd like to order the CD, or listen to the clips, visit Michael Bolton's website or pre-order the CD for $11.99 as of this posting at Amazon.
I received a copy of this CD to write a review. No other compensation was received.
