I recently had the chance to review Daisy Fuentes' new book, Unforgettable You: Master the Elements of Style, Spirituality, and True Beauty. I'm sure you recognize Daisy's name, but just in case, you may remember her from being a MTV VJ to modeling to hosting America's Funniest Home Videos.
I was perfectly happy to read this self help book because I figured it would have a Latina perspective on it, and it definitely does. Only a Latina can jump from a chapter talking about spirituality to one talking about sex - LOL! The book has a fun tone, while covering serious subjects. It's full of advice and tips, to interviews with friends and celebrities, to favorite quotes and ideas. Many things that are covered are traditional things that have been lost along the way over the years (such as grammar rules), as well new things to learn - cell phone etiquette. It even has recipes in it! Actually, I hate to say it, but this book almost needs to be required reading for high school girls because I see so much that was common sense has been lost these days. (It's only OK to answer the phone at the table if you're a doctor - or Batman! LOL!!)
I also like that Unforgettable You also has questionnaires and things for you, the reader, to fill out as you work your way throughout the book. (What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were twenty? Um, got a few hours? LOL) It's an easy read, and a light read while still being a self-help or how-to book. It's fun, and you'll giggle when reading it. If nothing else, you might just get a kick out of some of the personal photographs in there that scream "80's!"
Unforgettable You: Master the Elements of Style, Spirituality, and True Beauty is available in hardcover edition currently, and the suggested retail price is $24.00. (Amazon has it for $16.32 as of this posting.)
I received a copy of this book to share my thoughts about. No other compensation was given.
