CD Review: Sarah McLachlan - Laws of Illusion

Thanks to One2One Network, I was able to listen to Sarah McLachlan's new album, Laws of Illusion, a little early. Both my DH and I are fans of Sarah, so we were excited to receive it. (Yes, my death metal loving DH owns every CD from her, LOL)


Laws of Illusion is Sarah's first studio album of brand new material in 7 years (Afterglow was the last one) - it's hard to believe it's been that long! It hits the streets June 15th, and the first single off the CD (funny, I wanted to type record, good grief, I am OLD! lol) is “Loving You Is Easy”. I'll be honest, it wasn't my favorite track off the album, but fans of her music will probably enjoy it. I liked the first track the best - "Awakenings". Here's the complete track listing:

I'm betting this is another Grammy winner for her, as her voice is perfect as always. Did you know her album have sold over 20 million career sales so far, and every single one of Sarah McLachlan’s studio and live albums has gone gold, platinum, or multi-platinum? That's pretty good - very few singers and bands can say that.

The ever popular Lilith Fair is back this year as well, with tour dates throughout the country. Local folks, it hits the Gorge on July 3rd, and tickets are still available now if you want to brave the heat. All in all, I enjoyed Sarah's new release, and there are plenty of songs worthy of being on your iPod or Media Player off this one. It is available tomorrow online and at the usual sites - suggested retail for the CD is $13.99, and Amazon has it for just $9.99 on pre-order as of this posting. (Plus, if you buy it from Amazon, you do get a $1 credit towards a MP3 download from their catalog, so that's a good bonus)
