Environmentally friendly, and hey, if there ever comes the end of the modern world, I'll still be probably the only yard on the block with trim grass since mine doesn't use gas or electricity! LOL ;) The bright side of the manual lawnmower also is that you don't have to turn it off to make a mad dash to grab your kid - you can just drop and run. lol It's done though outside of a few areas under low trees and the edge against the fence that needs to be trimmed. At least I can say I did it all by myself, and the neighbors won't be shaking their heads wondering why they have to live next to us. ;)
My veggies are all doing really well, save for those three pepper plants I had put in the planter I made:
I'll be picking my first strawberries here soon! I'm really pleased with that plant. I was terrified at the cost of it, but I'm glad I used the gift card on it now. It's everbearing so hopefully we'll have some more nice berries from it throughout the summer, and that it will survive the winter to blossom again. My tomatoes are just rocking:
So are my onions, and check out my lettuce:
I seriously did not expect them to take off like that! I recycled - you know what I used? A berry container from the grocery store! This one's a bigger one, it was from a 4 lb strawberry container, but it worked perfectly as like a mini greenhouse. Voila! Something out of the landfill (they won't recycle it here), and we'll be eating some salad in a few weeks. I'll be saving my berry containers to use as beginning planters from now on, that's for sure!
I've got some more tiny pepper seedlings going, so I figure if worse comes to worse, since they are all in containers, they can finish out the season inside near light. I'm just going to keep at it!
And then there was this little guy - well, not so little, because he's rather huge - trying to make his way across my deck to the planters. He's got a way to go, so he's safe for now. I'll check on his progress before dark. I tried to lift him up and move him near the ground, but he's stuck fast. He better hope I unstuck him before one of the dogs tries to - I do not want them sick!!
I've been getting caught up on inside chores too. Come to find out, my handwash and line dry bin was up against the outside wall in the bathroom. I didn't think anything of it, but what was on the bottom was stuff I didn't need right away and had been sitting there, well honestly since before Christmas. I'm sure you can guess what happened - most of the clothes had mold on them. *sigh* Rather than throw them all away, I ran it through the washer on delicates twice with the extra good Tide. (lol that sounds funny. I usually use Tide because I have a stash from coupons, but I have like three kinds of Tide. The extra good Tide is the Total Care which is the only thing I will use on our blacks besides Woolite.) They look alright as they are drying, and I don't smell anything, so I am hoping they are alright.
Tomorrow I have another big project I'll be working on (more on that one tomorrow). It feels good to get some stuff done around here!
Aaaand because I can, here's the cute corgi shot of the day. Who can resist that cute smile? :)

Your garden is looking fab! Between the rain and the bunnies, my squash and soybeans don't have a prayer. *sigh* And just like you, we have a reel mower. I love that I can get the yard mowed in near silence.
