Thrifty Thursday - An Idea For Used Gift Cards

This week for my Thrifty Thursday post, I've got a use for those used gift cards that you can't - or won't - reload.

Unfortunately, used gift cards seem to pile up. Want a fun use for them? Have a guitarist in the house? Get yourself a pick, a marker, and some scissors (this is a supervised projects for kids, and remember, scissors and plastic can be hard to work with!)

Take the original pick, and trace the design onto the card. Keep doing it until the card is covered or near it - I was able to get 5 on each card for mine. Then trim it inside the marker, being very careful! If you have any sharp edges, just use a regular nail file to soften it.

If you have a family member who plays, you probably know how easily they go through them - or that the pick fairy tends to take off with them. ;) This will save you a little bit of cash that could be better spent on more equipment by using these for practice, and you're helping to save the environment too. Now if you prefer a thinner gauge pick, this might not be more you unless you happen to have more wobbly gift cards, but these are about on par with what most people use.

This is a fabulous idea!! I really love it. My husband is a guitar player and he just started teaching our five year old daughter. We go through picks like crazy.

I am totally trying this tomorrow!!
