Blog Tour: Barilla Share The Table

Mom Central recently asked if I wanted to be a part of the Barilla "Share the Table" blog tour. Barilla is usually our pasta of choice here, so I happily joined in.

The new Share the Table website from Barilla features recipes from Chef Mario Batali to help you and your family enjoy a meal at home. There are 12 different recipes featured right now from him (on top of many other recipes!), many which seem like they belong on a fancy Italian restaurant menu. ;)

When I was a kid, there was no if's, and's, or but's about it - we all ate dinner (and other meals) at the table together, and the TV was not allowed on. I remember friends being a little startled, because on top of eating together, my Mom was all about dressing the table with tablecloths, we used cloth napkins before it was the eco-friendly thing to do - well, you get the picture. My mother always cooked from scratch as well. (I'm thinking some of you can probably guess where I get the anti-microwave thing from) So now that I am a Mom too, I've taken a page out of my mother's playbook, and I insist we eat dinner sitting at the table - even if my husband still cranks about it, because his family never really did that. (Tough! lol)

I decided to try making the Ziti alla Pastora, because it was the one recipe that hit me as still being "frugal" enough that I would make it more often. (I like to keep my meal costs at around the $5 mark. Once ingredients crack the $10 mark, it becomes a really rare occasion meal) Here's the finished picture:

If you'd like to check out the recipe in steps, check out my recipe post.

Right now, if you'll pop on over to the Share The Table website, you can help donate $1 to Meals on Wheels, thanks to Barilla! All they ask is that you click the button if you believe that sharing a meal can help people connect! There's a hole bunch of other goodies on the site, from everything like advice to even a placemat creator that your kids will have a blast with! (Plus, you can learn some Italian with them, so you're never too old for a fun placemat!)

Plus, there are two different contests going on over on the Share the Table website. The first is Barilla's Pasta Fridays Sweepstakes, where you can win the fixin's for a pasta dinner. The second is Barilla's Mealtime Moments Contest, where if you share your mealtime stories, you could win one month's worth of groceries for your family! Both are pretty easy to enter (I did myself!), so if you enjoy trying your hand at contests, definitely take a minute to enter these!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Barilla and received products necessary to facilitate my candid review.
