Book Review: Fortunate Harbor By Emilie Richards

I recently received a copy of Emilie Richards' latest novel to review, Fortunate Harbor.

Fortunate Harbor is book two of the Happiness Key trilogy. Happiness Key is a little development with cottages in Florida, where five women live and share friendships. The story centers around Tracy Deloche, who owns the cottages; Janya Kapur, who struggles with infertility and wanting a baby badly; Wanda Gray, who's husband is a cop and she creates a pie-making business; Alice Brook, who's granddaughter Olivia lives with her; and Dana Turner, who is new to Happiness Key and is a single Mom who's arrived with her daughter Lizzie to rent one of the cottages.

While you can pick up Fortunate Harbor and read it without having read book one of the trilogy, Happiness Key, it's probably best that you do start off reading one before two, if only to understand more of the characters' backgrounds. It's impossible not to get a bit of the feeling of "knowing" these characters, and rooting for them as you read along. The book is well written, and while it's a longer read for this style of novel - over 500 pages - you are following along with multiple story lines that merge together and almost make you feel like you are reading intertwined shorter stories. It's hard to put the book down!

If you're on a longer vacation, Fortunate Harbor is the book to pack. Sit down by the pool and just enjoy getting lost in the world of Happiness Key - or just pretend you're in sunny Florida during colder, dreary weather. ;) Two thumbs up from me for yet another great novel from Ms. Richards! I'm waiting as patiently as I can for book three.

Fortunate Harbor by Emilie Richards is a fiction paperback novel, and is available at your favorite bookstore (support the small ones folks if you can!) and places such as Amazon, as well as on download for Kindle and other e-readers. It's 528 pages, and the suggested retail price is $13.95.
