Duct Tape: It Doesn't Always Solve The Problem

I was under the impression that duct tape can solve the world's problems - it can hold a bumper to a car and close a wound in a desperate situation, so of course it should solve the problem of a slice in a garden hose, right?

Not so fast. It lasts for about 3.2 seconds before the water still managed to come out!

I know it's a lousy photo (waiting on the new camera), but can you see the big spray coming out still? lol

I guess the grass will be staying a few nice shade of tan for awhile longer! On the bright side, I managed to angle the new "sprinkler" towards my little planter in the yard, so at least those were watered tonight. ;) I guess a new garden hose is on my shopping list!

Mini Poem: HOSE DOWN THE DUCT TAPE
Put a new garden hose on the shopping list,
because Duct tape doesn't hold like a fist.
The grass is looking too dry,
but I had to give the all famous Duct Tape a try.
The spray of water that shot out after minute or three point two-
helped water my little planter so why am I blue?
Because Duct Tape is no longer a famous gray
and now I need Calgon to take me away or maybe I can just forget today.

lol. After the bubble bath, maybe do a Google search. There are ways to repair hoses that might cost less than a new one, if you have the time and patience. Maybe if you buy the right tape, you can cut out the section that has a hole and join the ends with the tape.

Good luck with the hose and hopefully you can figure something out instead of buying a new garden hose. That darn duct tape!!!

Our hose has duct tape too. It makes for a great sprinkler, LOL.

Hilarious! I've SO done the same thing! I've also tried black electrical tape. That didn't work either. I finally found that if you put a dab of bathroom caulk or, even better, marine sealant (it comes in a tube like glue). Let that dry, then add the trusty duct tape. It works! And a tube of marine sealant will go a long way compared to replacing your hoses!

Good luck!
