My family and I recently received a copy of the latest Spongebob DVD to hit the market, Spongebob Squarepants: Triton's Revenge.

I don't know what it is about that goofy yellow sponge, but my family just adores him. We've been known to break into the theme song even without it being on the TV! lol
Spongebob Squarepants: Triton's Revenge contains seven episodes: the TV special "The Clash of Triton" - which features former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham as the voice of Queen Amphitrite and apparently 80's hair band singer Sebastian Bach as the voice of Triton, "Sand Castles in the Sand", "Tentacle Vision", "Shell Shocked", "I Heart Dancing", "Chum Bucket Supreme", and "Single Cell Anniversary". It goes without saying at this point that this DVD is the usual Spongebob fare of slapstick humor peppered with silly songs guaranteed to make most kids giggle, and a little bit of humor that goes over the kids heads right to us. All of these episodes have previously aired on Nickelodeon, so if your kids are die-hard Spongebob fans, they probably have already seen them once or twice. If you're like us, and without cable, then most of these episodes should be brand new to you.
The disc does contain some special features - "The Clash of Triton" shorts, and the Fanboy & Chum Chum episode "Wiz Boy/Pick A Nose". Is it enough to buy this disc instead of waiting for the next Spongebob season to hit DVD? Well, that's up to you. I like these shorter episode discs because it's easier to stop kids from watching all three to four discs in a row. ;)
Spongebob Squarepants: Triton's Revenge hits the streets next Tuesday, July 13th. It's full screen edition, with a running time of 89 minutes long. Like most of these animated DVDs, it's not rated, but please use your best judgement in allowing younger kids to view it. (Granted, most of the humor would probably go over their heads, but there is still some questionable scenes whenever Patrick is involved) The suggested retail price is $16.99, but Amazon has it for just $12.49 as of this posting.
I received a copy of this DVD to view in order to write my opinion. All link(s) contained are for your convenience; they are not referral links.
