Review & Giveaway: Orglamix

When I had the chance to review Orglamix, I was super excited. I love me some make up, and I kept trying to win off of every one else's blogs - I must have entered at least 50 I think with no luck! LOL

I was like a kid in a candy store trying to decide which colors to try, I wanted one of each. I finally decided on vibrant colors: Absinthe - a rockin' green, Purple Basil - a bright purple, and Blue Chakra, which looks like the 80's blue eye shadows - it's BRIGHT. Three completely different looks.

Let's be honest, most Moms don't have time to spend blending three or four colors together, especially if they aren't used to it. I am, but I've been wearing make up for 20 plus years now, and um, I don't think I've changed my make up techniques and styles much in the last 15 years of that 20, lol. (now that doesn't mean you'll find make up that old in my stuff - ewww! - I mean that I learned the right way to apply make up with techniques to make my eyes and skin look right for the look I want - which since I am in the world of goth-y, means it's a classic look for me! lol)

Each color from Orglamix arrived in a wide, low jar - perfect for applying. I don't like the thin and tall jars, they are much harder to use brushes in for applying. If you don't already own a set of professional make up brushes, I highly recommend buying some. I purchased my set almost 10 years ago now, and because I take good care of them, they are still kickin' like new. You don't have to spend $100 if you don't want to, as there are some good mid-range brushes that will do great if you take care of them.

I tried out the Absinthe first. I tested it out dry, with no liner - the quickest way to mimic a quick early morning make up session like most of us women who are stay at home wives or moms do. I used a small eye brush to apply it. I was amazed that the color was vibrant and sparkly just like in the jar - usually to get that much spunk out of a color, I have to use a base at the very least, or apply a shadow wet. Seriously, 20 seconds, a quick coat of mascara and I was done. Even if you are slower at applying make up because you are unsure, you can still have a hot look in less than a minute! Now it was a hot day, which means make up can melt and run in your eyes. I didn't feel that the Orglamix did that, since it was a mineral make up. Even though at the end of the day it wasn't as vibrant, it still looked pretty hot on my eyes with a smoky, glittery look.

When I tried Absinthe wet, it was gorgeous. It stayed perfect all day. Absinthe and I are best buds now. I think I may request that I am buried wearing this color, I love it so much!

I tried the same test with Purple Basil - first dry, no liner, then wet with Absinthe as a liner, and the results were the same thing - love at first sight. The great part about Purple Basil is that it can do double duty as a liner and a shadow - use it wet as a liner with it dry as a shadow for a more subtle day to day look.

With the Blue Chakra, wet it was incredibly vibrant at a whole new level, which made me totally swoon. For grocery shopping though, not so great of an idea. lol If you have blue eyes, I'm willing to bet this color will look awesome on you, if you dare the color! (Just be careful applying it that you don't go overboard, because this one could be easily applied the wrong way and you'll end up with 80's, ahem, lady of the night blue.)

Here's the my verdict: I've tried a lot of different brands in those 20 years plus - I've run the gauntlet from cheapie make up from the bargain bin to spending on high quality department store brands to professional range, stage make up. Point blank: Orglamix is seriously the best bang for your make up buck especially if you're into vibrant colors like me. I am in LOVE, and I am ordering some more colors as soon as DH gets paid! (I'm itching to try Clover, especially!)

You can find Orglamix on their fan page on Facebook, or follow on Twitter - where you'll find news about new colors, sales - and links to giveaways, too. ;) Plus, Orglamix has their own blog you can visit too!

Win it! Orglamix is letting me host a giveaway of my own! Whoo hoo! To enter, visit Orglamix and tell me which three colors you'd choose if you won! Are you daring? Or going for a more classic look?
