TV Highlight: Memphis Beat

DH and I are always on a quest to find new shows to watch. Alright... so maybe we watch a little too much TV late at night some weeks. ;) The newest show we just found out about is Memphis Beat, over on TNT.

The main character in Memphis Beat is Dwight Hendricks (who is played by Jason Lee). Dwight is a Memphis police detective - the typical Memphis person who loves his city, and loves blues music. Oh yeah, he also has a close relationship with his mother. His policework is akin to the way he lives his life - laid back and relaxed. The problem with that? His new boss is a high strung, want this done NOW kind of person. They clash, but Dwight is trying to win her over.

Like Memphis, the show is full of music, and Dwight takes the stage too. If you're familiar with the show Saving Grace, you'll recognize Sam Hennings as Dwight's partner, and you'll catch some Chickasaw tribal wisdom in this show too. The show was actually created in part by one of the folks behind Cold Case, so if you enjoyed that show, you might want to give this one a shot too. Psst... George Clooney fans, he's an executive producer on this show as well. Lots of familiar names abound with this show!

Want to see a clip about the show?

If you're interested in watching Memphis Beat too, a new episode premieres tonight over on TNT at 10/9C, and you can already catch the premiere episode as well as the second episode on the website now to get caught up! (You can catch a lot of TNT's shows on their website which rocks for us cable-less folks!)

If you've started watching Memphis Beat, what do you think? Are you enjoying it?

I'm a TNT Insider, but I'm genuinely watching this show.
