Where Does $20 Worth of Gas Take You?

Armed with $20 in gas, a picnic basket with snacks and drinks, and a well rested family, we got into the car with no schedule, no must-do list - we just went.

We got on WA-3 (that's in the Bremerton direction, for the local folks), and drove towards Poulsbo. Poulsbo, for the non-Washingtonians, is an adorable little town where folks proudly show their Norwegian heritage. Signs throughout the small town are both in Norwegian and English - some even with Swedish too. It's a quiet laid back area, with used bookstores, small boutiques and art galleries, and you can sit outside many different restaurants and enjoy a meal - or a beer for those who drink. You can also walk along the marina waterfront here, and have a picnic at one of the many picnic tables.

With temperatures in the lower 70's, who could ask for anything more perfect? We spent the day browsing these little shops.

And treated ourselves to a scoop of ice cream from Mora Iced Creamery. Mora is made from scratch locally over on Bainbridge Island. If you visit Poulsbo, I highly recommend you stop and indulge here in a little sweetness. We tried the Cheesecake with Raspberries, and I wish I had a picture of this yummy ice cream to share with you, but Daddy started sharing before I got a chance to. Sorry! :)

Next, we hit up Barr Park, where they have a playground and a small (emphasis on that word) dog park. At this point, everyone was so tired, we headed towards home. By the way, we had plenty of gas leftover from that $20 for another trip.

I used to live in Poulsbo as a teenager, the Creamery is awesome. I remember when they had lines around the block for that place.

Thanks for sharing pictures, bought back so many great memories.
