For those with young girls, you may want to run out and purchase or borrow this DVD. It's rare that I'll ever say a DVD is a must own (books are a must own, not DVDs), but the messages in the two stories contained on the DVD are messages we need our girls to hear more of. In Sweetpea Beauty, Queen Blueberry is obsessed with her mirror and stares at her reflection while the mirror tells her things. (or as my DH says, whispers sweet nothings to her. LOL) Sweetpea understands that beauty isn't on the outside, but rather, the inside, and that she is special just how God made her - but she ends up banished into the woods, where she meets seven snow peas. Yes, it's a VeggieTales version of Snow White.
The second episode on this DVD is "Snoodererella", and you can probably guess which fairy tale this one comes from. ;) When the clock strikes midnight, and Snooderella's instant beauty fix has disappeared, will she see herself as the King sees her?
Sweetpea Beauty: A Girl After God's Own Heart does have a good batch of bonus features, including an Art Gallery and some audio commentary, a little section of Girl Talk, which has kids thoughts on beauty, and Sweetpea's True Beauty Guide. It also contains an exclusive interview with Nichole Nordeman, who does the song featured during the end credits. You'll also have that song as part of a Sing-A-Long, and the "Pants" Sing-A-Long is included as well.
